The frame does have to be drilled for the sliders for maximum strength, I believe. You can opt out of installing the two bolts though and not have it drilled, I chose to have it drilled into the frame, They painted the holes to provide protection to the frame. Not sure how it affects the strength/ability to use a hi-lift on them, etc, though if you do not drill and bolt to the frame on those two holes. Best to talk to Jason at Cruisin about it.

As for price it says right in the link I provided which was about $1,000.00 Canadian, or 700-750 USD I think is what it converts to.

Who makes a good weld on version for the 2016's? I'll be keeping mine for a while and don't really care about the extra weight (and cost) to make them a bolt on.

We offer weld on. Just haven't updated the website but the cost will be the same as the 2005-2015 weld on set. Prices can be found at MobtownOffroad.com

You can weld any version on , just fill the bolt holes with weld. Weld as you would a weld on version.

Hey. I'd like to see everyone's patterns for fill plates. Can people post pics of different brands? I like these from mob town but that might be an old pattern.

That is an old pattern. That was our very first set of sliders ever built and the dimples were too crowded. New ones look like this:

Unfortunately no. Reason is we have to sub out all our laser work so to run one set different is expensive. Then it's a lot more to dimple them too. Takes a while for us to dimple every hole.

    IMG_5566.jpg IMG_5565.jpg IMG_5575.jpg IMG_5589.jpg From another post ...

Looking at some of the other sliders in this thread ... i stand by Mobtown as the best engineered and constructed.

    IMG_5566.jpg IMG_5565.jpg IMG_5575.jpg IMG_5589.jpg

I am fairly new to Tacoma board. I spent about a year waiting for my TRD Pro to be made then ordered. In that time I lurked the board trying to gather info on upgrades and man is this the place to go. So after reading up I completed LED upgrade !, decided on upgrade 265/75/16 Duratrac (close call over BF/KO2s)

It was time to make a step purchase. I am not a big off-roader. The majority of my 4x4 use comes with beach driving for surf fishing. I was initially drawn to the fairly good looks of the predator step and some of the others but I wanted something sturdy that would hold up to beach and give me a jack point.

So on this forum I discovered MOBtown off-road and the difference between sliders and steps. From all reviews it seemed Mobtown stood out as best made and decided to pull the trigger. Then I had it was meant to be moment when I realized they are manufactured in nearby Maryland. So made the purchase and had them installed at their "plant" in an old reclaimed rural industrial park. Unbelievable to see the pride they take in making their stuff. No corners cut in constant engineering improvements and pride in construction. These things are 100% American made by craftsman that take pride in their cuts and welds. Same local pride in finish. I choose 0 degree slider with a bump out and an awesome high grit powder coat finish. (Almost looks like spray liner finish) It makes a perfect step and 100% confidence on the protection and strength seeing the thing wrapped around the frame.

I understand there are a lot of mass produced, made in China good looking less expensive options. No offense to anyone that has em ... i just know seeing the build quality and detail of American engeneering and construction I am going to be super proud of these things for the life of my truck. Worth every penny to me.

    Thanks Joe at Mobtown Off-road!

So...my question is a bit counter to the norm. I don't really care about door dings as I am hard on my trucks anyway. I don't WANT a step as I find that my shins suffer too much from them. I am not going to rock crawl but want protection for the unexpected off road hazard. What I really want is the lowest profile slider possible...or perhaps I should say desirable. My question is two part: 1.What are the negatives of going with a lower profile vs extended sliders and how little is too little? 2.Who makes the lowest profile sliders (within reason)?
