Build quality and the sheer number of accessories for front runner make it my favorite rack. Although, I've only owned a sherpa and front runner (nothing wrong with the sherpa) so not too many comparisons. I think it's a bit pricier than other racks, but I find it to be worth it.

I purchased the Hooke Road Roof rack from Amazon. Less than half the cost of a Prinsu. It doesn't have the exact same channel system as the Prinsu, but its similar and I think its easy enough.
The LED light bar it comes with is super bright. So, that's my recommendation.

whatever you can find used locally would be my suggestion. They all pretty much do the same thing, all make noise, and can support the same weights, so whatever your preference is really. My personal vote would be to stay away from Hooke, but that's only my opinion; others are happy with it and that's all that matters.

it would be helpful if someone had a spreedsheet of each racking system that listed useful things like weight (rack itself, plus static and dynamic), whether you need to remove the bars each time to install things (like martin), whether the use all five mounting holes (like prinsu) or just four (like uptop) or if you can just punch a hole into weather stip like for uptop and prinsu or if you have to cut it entirely for sherpa)
    and so on.

There's only one answer and it's Martin Off-Road. Truly the best bang for your buck in terms of appearance, performance, and affordability. Plus he often runs sales around the bigger holidays like 10-15% off, meaning you can score one for a really good deal.

PS: I am not a sponsor, just very impressed with how mine has held up for the last year and a half. Loaded countless items on top of it as well as have ran my box and awning this whole time.

The only thing I don't like is there's no drop points and looks like you have to remove the sides everytime you want to mount or switch things around

The crossbars actually allow for drop-in style t-nuts if you want an alternative to carriage bolts. So far I've changed/added multiple tie down points with some t-nuts and eye bolts.

oh nice!! I was watching a yt video and there didn't appear to be any slots for them in the video. the yter said there was none and had to unscrew the sides and I thought that was a dealer breaker quite honestly.

The drop in t-nuts are okay for some smaller things, but I've definitely had 3 or 4 of them break/shear. I prefer carriage bolts, even if they're more time consuming to use.

I'm currently running the Front Runner Outfitters Slimsport rack. I'm a pretty simplistic guy when it comes to gear on my roof rack but you definitely want the ability to mount different accessories based on your hobbies. I would definitely recommend them!

I like how much cheaper the slimsport is and how you can have accessories for snowboard/bikes etc. Wonder why you can't do this on prinsu? Or rather why they don't sell accessories for it. Does the front runner slimsport come with machined holes at the top?

I got a hooke road with the built in light bar and have used it for almost a year. I love it. Works great for me. I carry a canoe on it, lumber, all kinds of junk and its great.

Id recommend putting it on with another person unless your a strapping boy with a long reach. It needs to be installed right not to make wind noise. They all make some, but if done right its not obnoxious.

There’s a t-slotted channel that accepts M8 hex head bolts so that you can mount different accessories.

Sherpa Grand Teton seems to be the best rack.

They look good, use thicker metal for strength and weight rating
    the mounting system is better
    accessories, adjustable

less wind noise than my old Hooke
