Last year I replaced my drive shaft seal on my 2008 toyota tacoma prerunner v6 at around 140k miles.
    I used this seal pullerhttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B24NJ99B
It was a wrestling match to get it out but it came out eventually.
I think it was too far in but im not sure.
My plan was to use a big socket to drive it in but for what ever reason it didnt work,(none of my sockets fit right i think) so I made a driver out of some pvc. It worked as far as I could tell. I drove it in a little past flush with the housing around it.
I also did the proper tranny fluid check procedure with the jumper wire etc.
Its been about a year and 5k miles since then and while changing my engine oil today I noticed a small drop of oil coming out around the drive shaft seal area again. Nothing wet on the garage floor though so its probably just getting started seaping again.
Im wondering if i didnt drive it in far enough? It seemed like if i kept going I was going to damage the seal ring.

My question is, what is the best seal driver for this job?
the part number for the seal is 90311-A0031.

You can buy a set of drivers at "Harbor Freight", or go to "Home Depot" and build one out of PVC pipe.

You might have actually pushed it in too far. Don't go past flush. I made that mistake the first time and woke up to drips on the floor.

I used an ABS reducer, it fit perfectly.

I used a 2x4 and hit it with my purse.

    Worked fine.

    Your truck is 4WD
His is 2WD. He has a tail housing.

1-1/2" PCV coupler works for the driver.

This is exactly what I was looking for.
When I used just pvc to drive the seal in i got the seal flush then noticed the seal took some damage but looked ok and stopped.
I will order “replacer d” which is toyota SST 09316-00051 and drive the seal flush using pvc to drive the tool on the seal so i dont do any damage to the seal.
    https://toyota.service-solutions.com/ItemDetail?SKU=09316-00051

will be sure to get more toyota atf, atf crush washer and do the fluid check procedure again too.

    Thank you

The major auto stores have free rentals and I have used Advance several times they have a big kit for Ball joints and U-joints with the big C type tool in it with about every size of metal adaptors all diameters of hollow rings that you can find one to fit instead of buying a kit. Just another option.

Whatever works. Pretty sure there’s a driver for it.

get it to the specified depth and not beyond.

Dang thing is leaking again already.
I will have to get a picture of how deep the seal is seated.
Pretty sure its hardly past flush..
Used a pvc coupler and did the trans oil check procedure after.
