I've been running myself wild trying to decide which sub I should get. I have a jl audio 500/1v2 amp that I will be using. I have been looking at jl, kicker, Memphis, etc... Any help would be much appreciated. I don't wanna spend more than $150/sub...

    Thanks

Look into a Sundown SD-2 10" sub. Only 4.75" mounting depth. You can pick one up for around $150.

Why not get the 12? Looks like that one is about 5.25 inches deep. You could get that behind the seat for sure. I think ********* makes a ported box for back there. Marv could hook you up even better than that!

I like where your head is at...

Crutchfield suggested those, aren't they like $90 a piece?

I actually found a fantastic deal here locally! I bought 2 of these (http://www.electronicexpress.com/catalog/16510/MemphisAudio-PR10D4V2)

Company here locally had them for $110, buy one get 1 free... I don't know if they're worth a damn, but 2 subs for $110... I couldn't pass it up... Will be installing tonight, i'll let y'all know...

I have 4 memphis audio 6" or 6.5" (whatever the 1st gens take) in place of my factory speakers with a aftermarket head unit and no amp YET, and they sound pretty damn good. the audio store i got them from said memphis has a lifetime warranty and that their stats are usually way under rated. he said its almost like they dare you to try and blow their stuff up and they handle being overpowered very well. now whether or not that's true... i'm not sure yet. but i can't wait to get my amp and then finish it all off with the sub, amp, and custom box later.

so i guess in short, i've been pleasantly surprised with the quality of memphis audio.

Glad to hear it man... Thanks for the input. And ya, that's what I heard as well. Like 3 year warranty on the subs, 4 year warranty on headunits and lifetime on their speakers... So that's pretty dang good in my book. About to head out to install them... Can't wait!

No but seriously......where'd you get a Type-R Thin for $180? Those things go for about $499!

This is the cheapest I've seen.

I've never seen one as high as $499.

I got mine from http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ when they had a special on them. There were selling them for 189$ a pop, limit 2 per customer. So I bought 2, still sitting on the other debating about putting it in the truck. Now they are over 300$. I've seen them drop under $200 one other time. I've noticed they avg around $300-350 now. Not sure if Alpine isn't making them anymore or what.

Did a quick google search, under 300$ at sears..

    $309 here.
