I am convinced snorkels are great and that we all should have one.
After hearing the discussion on TacomaWorld,
it appears there are approximately 32 Pro's, and zero Con's.

    Pro's:
-ram air effect for More Power
-clean air from up high and not the dusty ground
-can cross water without hydrolocking, like any Tacoma should
    -looks good
-mpg decrease from aerodynamics probably negligible

That being said, which is the best one?
That shorty/stubby one (I forget which model) is growing on me and actually looks kinda cool.
Then there is ARB and Safari, which I think is different.
    Why are they $300+? That's bullshit. I heard a snorkel for 3rd gen 4runners is only $100...

I've heard about the relocation mod to route air intake into cowl and be hidden
but supposedly that's not as good as a snorkel

One of the cons l would be concerned about is the water getting into all the underwood electronics. That fact apparently concerned Toyota enough for them to call them 'Desert Air Intakes' rather than snorkels for water usage.
I personally like them though!!!!

Buy the ARB. I DO NOT recommend the Dobinsons. I hated mine when I had it on my last truck.

I wonder if they did that for liability reasons
like knowing that in general yes snorkels are for water crossing and water into electronics ingress should be considered
but to protect themselves from issues that could arise if the average person drives through water, causes damage, and then tries to make them pay for it claiming "look, here it says this part is for water usage"

They say it because that what it is. Snorkels aren’t primarily meant for water. It’s an air intake.
