Been looking into exhaust too. Want nice sound without losing torque/low range power. Leaning towards TRD or just aftermarket muffler

I believe that is the muffler in the kit I installed - it was the Flowmaster 817614 cat-back dual exhaust kit. I ended up having an additional resonator added in front of the muffler, but still had a nasty drone at 2000RPM and felt like I had lost some low-end torque.

Despite all the evidence to the contrary I still like my dual exit flowmaster. Can't hear the drone over my tires on the Interstate anyway :D It doesn't bother me and has a nice sound when you want it.

I think it's a great exhaust - just not for me :dancingbacon: That's why there are different brands / types / styles - something for everyone :D

I have the TRD cat back and dig it, has the best tone in my opinion... Least V6ish of what's out there. Fit & finish is excellent as well

I've got a 50 series right now, it droned a bit when I had it dumped before the axle, had him weld the other section back in so it's just a little higher than stock exit, sounds great now! 40 or super 44 series the drone is awful!

on my 2011 i did a 2.5" y pipe removing the second set of cats, into a 24" magnaflow and 3" out. it sounded damn good. would i do it again? absolutely not because it was just a waste of money for no gains other than clearance under the transfer case and a different sound.

"IF" i put a new exhaust on my new 2013, all i would do is the re route to clear the transfer case, slap on a replacement magnaflow and call it a day

I recently installed a URD Mk. 3 cat back system on my 2006 and am very happy with it. It has excellent build quality and the sound is nice yet still quiet in the cabin and zero droning. It's also pretty quiet outside too which is important to me since I offroad in areas that can be near private lands and I don't want to bum out my neighbors.

    Cheers, James

I am thinking of getting a TRD too. They claimed HP gains. Is that true? How about gas mileage gain/lost?

Didn't notice any HP gains, but haven't dyno'd. Gas mileage didn't change for me before/after.

I've had a 3" catback with a magnaflow muffler for a year and a half now. It's definitely deep and loud, especially paired with a K&N cold air intake. Sometimes it can be loud on the interstate but it hasn't ever bothered me. I would definitely recommend it to anybody looking for some more volume.

I have a TRD and like it alot. Quiet until I get on it. The only other ones I would consider are Borla or Magnaflow but would probably go Borla

I also have the TRD and like it, but the V6 just doesn't sound that great. If you're wanting to make more noise at higher RPMs then go with a K&N or similar COI. You don't get huge gains in the HP area, but I have seen small increases in gas mileage and once you get over 3k RPM it can get pretty noisy. Anything up to 3k RPM and you can have a normal conversation in the cab. 3k RPM and higher.. forget it.
