    My opinion (since you asked): it's a V6 truck that doesn't get any performance gain going aftermarket...leave it stock and invest in the stereo to be loud. My TRD exhaust isn't bad, but I'm also actively looking for an OEM quiet one to put on. I've had performance cars that sounded great, the 4.0 won't ever compare so I don't try to.

    I have a y pipe into a vibrant silencer into a magnaflow muffler. sounds good below 3k rpms and at idle. But if you wot this bitch then it sounds like a clapped out sunfire with a fart can.

    I don't have any experience with the Aero Turbine and any video online would be hard to really tell how it sounds in person. I have the TRD exhaust and I'm happy with it. I feel like the aftermarket exhausts, TRD included, have some level of drone that may be better or worse than others. The TRD has some under load (more than stock).

    I agree. The Z's V6 had a unique note, particularly the 350's. I owned a 08' Z with the Nismo exhaust and it sounded amazing. I miss that car.

    I love the way the Z's sound with a high end exhaust.

    I also have an Aeroturbine XL, after a Vibrant resonator, on my Tacoma. Both 3.5". Following an unequal length turbo exhaust, it has a harmonic tone similar to theirs.

    Yes I can see why you’d say that. I looked at the threads you started, seems your into mods and boy racer type stuff. I’m all for that me I just want a truck I can hop in and drive several hundred thousand miles without turning a wrench beyond normal wear items.

    These v6 engines are not smooth. They are grumpy detuned, valve train clicking, discordant sounding utility engines.

    Unless your v6 is revving to 11,000rpm it’s not going to sound great.

    Leave the loud exhausts to racecars, where they belong. You aren’t going to make people think you have a trophy truck by adding a catback.

    Me too. Should have spent their high school money on gas and Roadtrips to the beach. Much better return on investment.

    Soon I'll be burning in a 22" Borla on that setup. The Banks Monster muffler's packing has blown out. Quite curious to see how it sounds not only with a working muffler, but that muffler.

    I’m pretty happy with the sound from my Gibson exhaust. I didn’t want anything loud, just for the performance gains.

    I had the aeuroturbine 2525Xl put in, honestly the drone is worse with that muffler. Ended up bolting a sidepipe on the factory Y's flange just to a donwturn tip as a muffler delete. That droney spot is now a gurgle noise like an old tractor, and i like that better than the drone as it doesnt bother my ears. But it sounds good banging limiter in a mud hole lol.
