This is a YMMV thing, that depends on your radio's sensitivity.. I've got CravenSpeed Stubby Antennae on my Tacoma and my Shelby. It works well on the Shelby (stock H/U), but the Tacoma (stock H/U) gets mediocre reception. My son runs one on his Tacoma (aftermarket H/U) and also has no problems.

FWIW, there's an existing thread on this topic here.

It depends on where you live/drive, in or near an urban area they can work OK, but if you are 35 to 50 miles from a station don't expect much...

I just bought a 13 inch Antennax antenna off Amazon for $15.99/Prime.Mainly got it for aesthetics, because i don't listen to the radio. I use an aux. Signal strength might be a little low from what some people said.

I put one of these on. Very happy with it. Very little if any loss of signal. My original snapped and didn't want another 18 foot long original

Stubby antennaes are garbage reception wise. Kinda wonder what's the point of killing your reception so you have a "cool" looking antennae.

Stick with stock if you want good reception, I have picked up NY station in Vermont with my stock antenna, have looked into stubby ones a few times, most recently when I replaced my internal antenna a couple months ago and they are all kind of crappy from what I have read.

Our custom carport has only 6'6" clearance, the OEM antenna hit on the girders. I got this 13" puppy from Walmart for $9 (threw out the base and cable). Reception is OK but we are about 45 miles from both Jacksonville and Daytona...
