I've got the 8's in my 1st gen. and I love them. It's just that the 2nd gens can fit W3's back behind the rear seat unlike 1st gens. :pout:

Wow is all i can say cant vote for crap. Rockford used to be good, kicker makes good amps and crappy subs, JL is waay overrated.

Alpine still mAkes a great product at good prices

Best bang for the buck is aq and sundown

35% up front, 20% in the back window tint, 15" Mickey Thompson bullet hole wheels, with 31x10.5 Firestone Destination A/T tires. Glass Pack, High Flow Cat, S&B CAI, Custom Light Bar with 4 fog lights. 2 10" Rockford Fosgate P2 subs with 1000 watt Rockford Fosgate Amp, CB.
Actually the 3 you are bashing are just about the biggest on the market.

OP it really depends on what you want. You said you want hard hitting I will really suggest a JL w7. Expensive but it's hard to beat a w7. They hit hard as hell from my experience. What is most important make sure you get an amp that will push the sub properly. I have a Memphis in my car and had a crap amp and it wouldn't push it. My buddy had the same sub different amp and it was amazing. Your sub will only run as good as your amp will let it. So don't skimp out on the amp.

I have two 10" Rockford Fosgate P2's in my truck and they hit pretty hard and sound good and clean. The Memphis in my car is still waiting on a new box and amp right now. But keep in mind whatever you get you'll need a good quality amp to go with your good sub.

You're right that the 3 mentioned brands are very popular. A good marketing team will make even the shittiest product sell...remember that. However, I'd say that all of those brands make decent stuff on average. Sure JL stuff is expensive but a lot of it is well designed. Alpine and Rockford have had their names built up from making good products in the 90's and early 2000's but times have changed and just because it has X brand on it doesn't mean shit anymore.

And I also want to add that the W7 is likely the worst woofer for this dudes application. If you read the thread you'd see he asked what the best sub for small spaces is. Have you SEEN the box that a W7 needs?

Yeah for sure, I know exactly what you mean about them just making products. But most of the company has their low, middle, and high quality equipment. Just like any company of anything, even vehicles.

And you're right the w7 wouldn't apply for him in such a small space. I was just saying that cause it's a good woofer if you want hard hitting.

As for small space, I personally haven't ever dealt with shallow subs. My trucks backseat is useless because of the box. But my backseat was useless anyways since the rear cab doesn't have a door so it's moving the seat every time which I do not care for.

For sure, all brands make entry, mid, and high level stuff. That's why I get on to everyone about just throwing out a brand like you can't go wrong as long as you get something with that sticker on it.

As for subs that would do well in a small space, I think a lot of the Dayton subs (HO and Reference) do well in sealed enclosures. I'd have to model them to figure out exactly which ones.

I voted and suggested systems that I've heard in person not some that I've read about on the internet. I voted JL because of all the subs I've heard they were the best all around. Kicker SoloX in max ported box was the hardest hitting and the JL Audio W3v3-4 were the best sound quality, also best all around.

What? Nick hasnt even said he has the prototype, much less the sub ready to go.

And have you ever used or heard one? I had one for quite a while in the past, and am not sure that its the best bet for everyone.

I see you have a DC. I would suggest the JL 13tw5, with a box build for it's specs from Mr Marv here. He can engineer and expertly build just about anything you want and it will be fit and look perfect behind your rear seats. I only use one, and it is more than enough.
