Im new to the taco world. I have a 2023 trd or. I'm wanting to add a better shocks and leafs springs for better off road performance. I also just ordered a topo topper so I'm hoping the better leafs can stop the sag. Can I put 5100s on my truck with out lifting it or is that considered a lift.

I dont really want to put 33s on my truck because I dont want to have to regear or do an ott tune

Last question. Would it look bad doing a 2 inch lift and keeping the 31s

honestly if you are not running aftermarket bumper and winch the stock springs will be just fine. As for the rear leaf springs you will be happier with a more stout leaf pack once you get the topo topper on. Then again with a firmer leaf pack this may raise the rear even with the topper on so you might go down the road of a leveling lift which is minor or you might just run with a slight rake which will give you options for adding more weight overtime. Just be mindful of what you tires load rating is when adding weight.

I didn't think about the tires. I at4w's but they are standard load. I couldn't find lt in 265/70/16s. I wonder if I'm going to have to upgrade my tires

It will all depend on how heavy and where you are going with the truck.

1.5-2" lift and run 32" tires. Trust me on this one.

Don't get too wrapped up about tires. Even C-Load rated are fine for what you are doing. The higher the load rating, the stiffer the sidewall, the rougher the ride.

5100s set to a 1 inch lift in the front, and a leaf pack that handles the weight you are planning to keep in the back of the truck, along with 5100s for the rear.

The TRD lift struts and rear shocks are an option as well, as setting the front clip to 2/3 should get you about a 1 inch lift. Also a leaf pack dedicated to your specific weight.

    send it!

5100's won't be a lift if you leave it at the stock setting. If it were me, I would raise the front 1" with the 5100's to eliminate the oem brake dive, making the truck perfectly level, and looking good. Maybe someone can correct me, but I doubt the soft topper will make it sag.

Yes, 31's will look like you skipped leg day, and 33" pizza cutters will not require ott tune, nor cutting, nor cmc.

I don't think you gather how the 5100's help with brake dive. Lift has nothing to do with it, the digressive characteristics of the shock is what helps so regardless of lift position slapping on a 5100 will aid in reducing the felt effects of brake dive.

Op, do a tune regardless of your tires size the benefits are felt at any point especially as you start to add weight. How heavy is this topo topper? Odds are you arr going to want upgraded leafs and possibly air bags if this is a heafty unit. The issue with stock leafs is they flatten if you look at them wrong. Especially if you have a dclb configuration.
You could also try just air bags with 5100's at stock height. I know it can be difficult to find a leaf pack that will increase load capacity without adding a pile of lift.

I wish leveling trucks wasn't a thing. 99% of people who do will not think to adjust their headlights afterwards. Trucks are meant to have rake, leveling for looks is stupid IMO.

You may be right. All I know is that once I did the 2" 5100 lift, the brake dive went away, and it was night in day in driving and handling due to the bigger cushy shocks. And it looks great.

    No regrets!

Hey TC, you have the soft topper, what's your take on the weight in the rear, was it much? Did you do anything differently with the suspension to compensate?? I ask because I also have a steal rear bumper, but it didn't change much in the rear suspension.

Agreed except... when lifting the front with 5100 you are adding more preload by squishing the spring into a smaller space. Thus the spring should be stiffer and better able to handle loads. I could be totally wrong so don't quote me on that. :D

I bought a topo topper. Not a soft topper. With the topper and gear I'll have about 700 pounds in the rear

The topper and gear will weigh about 700 pounds. I was worried that a new leaf pack would raise my back end to high. I was thinking about air bags today

Are you on a dcsb/aclb or dclb? I found there's a major discrepancy between the load capacity of leaf packs depending on the vehicle layout. Dobinsons does account for this on their site. And when your looking at springs remember most of the advertised capacities are at x lift.

I would upgrade the pack with air bags potentially. I had ome 111's and with either of my set ups it wasn't enough to support it well and even less so when towing.

I strive for a 2/2 lift it only runs level when fully loaded and maintaing that rake as much as possible really does make the truck drive much better.
