I've always used Royal Purple. Never had an issue.

I can understand where you are coming from especially if you don’t understand and can’t make sense of what is being discussed here.

    Still figuring it out…
I bought my truck with a little over 95k and the dealership changed the oil beforehand, supposedly they used GTMO 5w30 DR SN WTY guessing that’s Toyota synthetic oil from my research but I changed it out at 96k due to the taco tick, so I put Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic in it and it’s not there anymore! Who knows what oil and weight they used, I know they changed it due to it looking clean. I got over 98k on her now and the “taco tick” hasn’t come back.

I thought most dealerships just dumped 0w20 in everything these days since that's what the newer vehicles use :notsure:

We put in whatever the vehicle calls for. Other dealerships may do this differently though.

There's very little middle ground with an oil thread. They're either as enjoyable as staring at your wife's beautiful bosom or bending yourself in half and chewing your own balls off.

Just found out today that the dealership my wife bought her Highlander from, the one I warned her not to go to, suggested 15k service intervals.

No surprise there. They also won’t tell you if they find a problem with your vehicle if it’s under warranty because it only pays 1/3 the flat rate to repair it and nobody wants to do it. They let you figure it out on your own. Hopefully after it’s out of warranty. They still put in the right kind of oil though.

Like others have said any major brand synthetic will do. I've used Pennz, M1, Valvoline and currently changed to Castrol. I think the most important thing is you change it when it's due, depending on where and how you're using your truck. I normally use a OEM filter
