Luck of the draw. The best year according to severity of reported problems, 2015. My 2010 had ZERO issues.

I believe there is a TSB for shifting or something , but I don’t know if it’s exactly like the 19 and 20. I’ve never looked in to it

I don't get it. You're buying ANOTHER one besides your '14 or looking to replace it because of something you don't like?

If buying another, you already know '14 isn't a bad year. I'm partial to '11s myself but that is 3 years older right off the bat.

17 if you don’t like the nanny safety stuff. 20 gets you a powered driver seat.

I just got my 14, but I'm having a lot of paint chipping/pealing issues due to the single stage white and am beginning to notice little things that the guy who owned before me didnt take care of. Would rather sell it, take a small loss and get something newer that has good paint after spending tons of money on a truck that I want to keep for 8-10 years. It's a known problem with toyota white paint apparently and theres no recall on it for Tacomas, just my luck haha

Something will happen to your new one. That's just how the world works.

Now if we talking about a Ferrari, I'd say yea, that sucks. Luckily this is a truck. It's supposed to look clapped out.

I know a guy who bought a brand new '04 white one and has never waxed it. never. It looks like chalk but if he buffed it, it would look like new.

    My clearcoat has come off.

    Since I have a 99 and a 2020 it's a toss up between the 2. :D

If I had my way I would have the first gen size and look with the 2020 tech, minus the TSS crap.:crapstorm:

If you ask your local Toyota mechanic, he’ll tell you 2015 is the best Tacoma made to date.

Minor issues 1 random guy stated over the internet shouldn’t be the accepted provenance for any given year. Furthermore one should not generalize an issue because someone many years ago neglected their truck.

Anyways 14’ is the best year because I have a custom sticker on mine

since no budget was mentioned and only "used", I myself after all said and done with a 2020 and upgrades, I would look for a 2020 Pro and be done

    Still thinking about it.
Best year was the '96 S-10. That's how I learned how to do ball-joints at 86k miles lol. And alot of other things. POS>
