This ain't nothing like the 70's.... in 1979 I think you could make 25% on 7 figure deposits -
    Mortgage rates were like 18%...
    Unemployment was staggering...

The causes were real, not 'created'... the war in Vietnam closed up and Military spending dropped like a rock sending shockwaves throughout.
Hundreds of thousands of people directly and indirectly related to the military were suddenly out of a job.
The Saudis created an 'Oil Shortage' and had us all believing oil would run out in 5 years sending prices from $.50 a gallon to upwards of $2.00 a gallon.

I honestly can't think of a real cause for the 'inflation' that is currently going on besides Covid wrecking havoc on the entire global economy.

Unemployment is at a 40 year low.
The housing market is out of control as the market is being cornered by corporate investors... yea every day folks trying to buy a house they are
competing with some 'company' that has billions to spend so they can sit on it, rent it out for 50 years, and make a killing if they ever sell it. Soon
this place will be like Brazil, where houses are handed down from generation to generation because nobody can afford to buy one. You either hand
it down to the first born or you end up selling to some 'company'.

In a recent congressional hearing the Oil Companies said they have, and would continue to slow down oil exploration because their investors were
enjoying the higher prices ( and profits ) ... this current 'inflation' is being manufactured - the only way to get this oil-price-fiasco under control is
to 'gasp'... regulate it. Some would argue if these 'public' oil companies are drilling on our 'public federal land' then that oil should stay right here in the USA
at a lower price than the world market... I can get behind that.

the Vega was a great car, it used so much oil it always had fresh oil. The pinto was nice safe car unless you were rear ended. It was a time when the big 3 car manufacturers were trying to complete with small cars like Toyota it wasn't going well. My home was built in 78 and the garage can't accommodate a 3rd gen DCLB the garage door won't close. I had a 76 impala I had to put the front bumper against the wall and the garage door just cleared the rear bumper by an inch. But it was a fun time to be in high school. It wasn't just Friday, It was get "fried-day". On the bright side the cars were easy to work on.

Chrysler/Lean Burn System, That was Chryslers GM cross fire debacle.

My first ride was a 1972 FJ40, absolutely thrashed that thing, hauled thousands of cords of wood, endo'ed it, completely totaled out a 68 Chevelle with just a scratch on the bumper. [had the Toyota PTO winch option mounted in front] Even the cops didn't believe my truck did that kind of damage to the Chevelle with so little damage.

Consumer Reports has a huge following. That’s it.

Note Some of the worst years .. doesn’t mean all are bad? They just had more problems listed.
My son loves his 2016 Tacoma TRD. It had not given him any problems. Just told me he reach 102,000 miles.

Love how butt hurt some people are. I had an early 2nd gen with lots of issues... Of course not all the early trucks are going to have issues, but in general there are more with the early ones. This guy does a good job at summarizing them in the early 3rd gen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6tRAQ_r0Ms

Nah, he ran a red light at about 60, I took the entire passenger side out from front to back, push it all in about a foot.

Cheap American tin VS third world tank. FJ>Chevelle.
