Anyone have an opinion on the best tailgate pads bike carrier for a gen 3? I'm looking to get some improvement over laying the bike in the bed. What are the pros and cons? Does the front wheel scratch your bumper? seems like it would rub or bounce back and forth against the bumper as you drive. I have a 29er with a 140mm fork so it would hang pretty low. The Dakine looks decent option but I'm not completely sold.

I, too, am in the market for a tailgate pad. From what I have seen and read (and by no mean am I an expert -- far from it) the tailgate pad is a pretty good way to haul three bikes once in a while. I'll comb through that link above -- thanks for posting that. Looks like real experts in there and I hope to learn something ... :)

Also, I found this comparison review helpful. I like these guys and find their reviews pretty thorough. Not the be all and end all but certainly good insight for consideration:

    I hope that helps ...
