Best time of the year to buy a 2012?

    Hi All,

So i'm about to realize about a 10 year long dream and buy my first Taco!

We actually just bought my wife a new Camry and ended up getting a killer deal, 0% apr + an extra grand on my trade in.

I was wondering if there was a best time of year to hold out for on the Taco so I could hopefully get a similar deal?

I know the end of the model year is coming up, which is probably a good time to negotiate... but do you think they'll do any additional incentive deals?

I doubt Tacomas would have any incentives. Maybe when the 13s start rolling out within the next few months would be a good time.

Tacomas are selling good, so they don't have great 'deals' on them, but September and October is traditionally the time when the next year models start rolling out and they try to get rid of the previous year models. The longer you wait, the better the deals get, but the down side of that is that if you want a specific configuration or color it might not be available anymore, so you might get a good deal, but it might be a color that nobody wanted.

I just bought a 2012 in San Antonio. It stickered for 32 and I got it for 29.6. I was going to buy last year at this time but waited until oct and the selection of the old model year was limited. I did not buy because I knew what I wanted and I could not find it....so keep old truck another year till this past monday. Basically I am a COSTCO member so I got the truck at 200 under invoice, plus a 500 repat for being USAA member and they hve a 500 incentive for Tacos...really good time to buy right now.

My advice would be to wait until the last day of a month...it's the last chance the salesmen have to get their monthly sales numbers up and they're more willing to deal (worked for me anyway.) :)

    .
IMHO ... Best time to buy a 2012 is now ... to get a decent selection.

To keep it short & sweet & going from memory ... I just bought a 2012 and got about 12%+ off MSRP on a $36,000.00 MSRP. Tacoma was a loaded (Entune-Nav.) truck + taxes & tag. And I got "KBB High Trade" on a cherry 2010 Tacoma on trade and eliminated most of the sales tax.

The 2012 had no expensive add-ons from SET (South East Toyota) except ToyoGuard and $300.00 floor mats those totaled about $1,000.00 of the MSRP IIRC.

Also got 2.24% money for 60 months from PNC Bank via the dealer too ... it was best money at the time anywhere ... deal was done in the first week in June, 2012.

The syndrome of ... last day of the month ... on a rainy Monday night ... staying at dealership from 5:00 to close ... and having everybody stay (including business manager) to wait on your azz will work sometimes. ...

PS ... There were 3 people looking at my Tacoma when I bought it ... and I was looking at a silver one that was bought while I was looking at it.

This is not a Dodge ... ... these things sell ... :D ... just try to get the best deal you can.

I wouldnt wait much longer. Was at the dealership today and they already have '13s on the lot, not many '12s left already. Still only offering $500 from Toyota but maybe the dealer will take a little extra off to get the '12s off their lots.

Sometimes you can get better deals at the end of a month depending on how sales went for that month. Quotas must be met. This is not systemic though.

Thanks for the info guys, this lit a bit of a fire under my ass.

So we have a dealer here in long beach that is known for dealing around invoice... the sticker is just a waist of paper and ink that they throw up their in hopes of catching a moron.

I'm sending out emails now to dealers for quotes.

Here is what i'm thinking now.

    Double Cab V6 (base model).
I want to be out the door for under 24k. I'm pretty sure I can pull it off since invoice is something around 22k.

    I'll keep ya'll posted.

I don't think the 2012's will sell for much less. They're almost gone already and they will have no problem selling what's left. Toyota has it down.
