hey guys ive been asking as many people as i can about this and im getting so many different answers so i figured i would ask yous guys your thoughts.

im putting SCS GEN5 17X9 -38 offset on truck...that being said im running
    285/70R/17 as of now ...

the -38 offset of the GEN5 is IMO is gonna be a way better aggressive look than the 0 offset of my other wheels but curious about everyones opinion and i do not want to mess with re-gearing or tuning ATM ( down to cut and know i might have to anyway)

so my question is the 295/70R/17 or 285/75R/17 a better call than the the 285/70R/17 ?

295/70R/17 will give me a little more overall width
285/75R/17 will give me a little more overall diameter

curious have any found out through experience out of these three choices one is just considerably better for the ride and overall performance ...thanks for your time and consideration

ps i have a spare so i know lots of people are telling me that if you choose one of the tire sizes that is either the 295 or the 285/75R are harder to come by in a pinch ...

    thanks again ..

I’d check out 34x10.5x17 KO2s in D load 55lbs. Light weight you won’t have to regear.
I have 285s but I’d check out the 34 inch tires.

Have you thought about 305/65/17 tires? I ran them on the 17x8.5 wheels and had minimal rub at full lock. I think with your 17x9 -38 you'll be rubbing regardless of the tire width.

with the wheels you are putting on, you will have do do lots and lots of cutting with any of the tire sizes you are thinking of. I just put 17x9 -38 wheels with 285/70/17's on my 5th gen 4runner and had to do a bunch of cutting and pounding to make them fit without rubbing. Taco's wheel wells are no bigger than the 4runner, so if I were you I would assume you'll need more than just a CMC to make them fit.

Here are the 305/65/17 on the 17x8.5 -10 wheels. If you went with them and the 17x9 -38 they would stick out almost 1.5" more just to give you a reference.

i do have a question ....when you got the wheels and tires put on did they asses the situation or did they leave it up to you to make all of the mods?

I bought my wheels and tires about 3 months before my lift came in, so I was on my own for the mods. I don't think many tire shops would be willing or able to do all of the necessary work anyways. if your 4x4 guy is any good (and experienced with toyotas), he should be able to do the work for you pretty easily.
