    Howdy...
Does anyone know of the best AT tire for a Tacoma, size 265R6018, in terms of smooth quiet ride, great snow traction, and longevity? Thinking of going from an all season radial to an AT. I do not do off road with this truck, save for some seasonal use roads. Just thinking that the more aggressive tread on an AT would be better on the highway in winter than all seasons. Thank you for your consideration

I used to like them too but the rubber is hard and they suck on winter roads.

There is no best. Everyone drives in different conditions and what works great for me may not be best for you.

I ended up needing new tires on both my F150 and Tacoma last Spring. I put these on the Tacoma in March

Goodyear Wrangler UltraTerrain AT | Discount Tire

And these on my Ford a few weeks later.

Toyo Tire Open Country A/T III | Discount Tire

I've been very pleased with both. The Toyo's are a little quieter. The Goodyears sing a little, but it isn't bad. Both ride very well and have proven to work well in mud. No snow yet, so I can't say.

Check the threads on the "best" oil. You will get a lot of the same useless information

If snow traction and longevity are concerns, look for a 3 Peak Mountain Snowflake rated tire. A less aggressive tread will generally be quieter.

If I was to recommend something, it would be a Yokohama Geolander AT G015. But, I'm not sure if they're available in that size.

Also, for little off-road use, stick to an SL load rating. They sometimes use a softer rubber than their LT counterparts and have more siping, which is what you want for snow traction.

Agree with this. The BFG's have a fairly aggressive tread but are very quiet on the highway. I am about to replace my Goodyear wranglers with BFG's. The Wranglers are good tires and last well but they are definitely noisier than the BFG's

You knew going in what kind of replies you would get. That said, I'll add my opinion, and it's worth what it costs. For the driving you described, UltraTerrains fill the bill nicely.
Too bad they don't come in your size. At least I told you up front what my advice was worth.

You're thinking of the old AT2's and not the new AT3's that just came out :)

AT3s are awesome (and in snow) and better than my Duratracs!

There is no "best" tire. I literally try to run a different tire everytime I replace. That being said I now only run cheap offbrand tires. Saves tons of money and they all perform.

Not sure you are going to get a quiet ride out of an AT. They will get louder over time. I am currently running Falken Wildpeaks AT. Been well pleased with them.
