I'm never going back to a rigid cap. I love my Soft topper.

Man i tried that here in Reno. Found a used DCSB same year and color as mine on a lot with a topper i wanted. offered them 800 for it and they refused. wouldn't budge. made no sense to me.

Watch the local car lots, private sellers and dealerships They will sell you one off a truck on their lots. Dealers usually have a harder time selling a truck with a shell. Go figure.

I have a Leer 100r that I’m very pleased with. Pretty basic, I added the windoors which I couldn’t imagine being without. Also added the roof rack, headliner, and sliding front window which are all great and I would recommend. I would say if I were buying again I’d strongly consider an aluminum top to make taking it off and putting back on easier.

Another thought: My 100r has two rear handles, one per side...the fancier models offer the single centered handle and while I have no personal experience with this style I’ve heard people having problems over time with that configuration, especially in winter months. I can definitely see that being an issue and I’m glad I have the two separate and more mechanically simple handles.

Also, it’s easy to balk at the price but these things really are so damn useful. In my case it’s more than paid for itself too, I sleep in the back of the truck when I’m on the road doing shows and I’ve saved thousands in hotel bills.

I heard of people doing that on here, but my experience on it was a huge no go. I emailed every person on craigslist, autotrader, and other sites selling a truck with a cap. Most never bothered to respond, and the ones who did pretty much told me no.
1 dealer said maybe....it was color matched to my truck, so I took my dad's truck to go check it out(exact dclb tacoma, just different color) another person didn't see how great it was for me and jack up the price. When I got there the guy claimed he never told me to come talk to him(i still had the emails) and tried to sell me the entire truck.

I ended up finding my Leer 100Xl on craigslist and bought it for $900 colormatched.

Dont think I'd pay retail for a cap, but I love having one.
