    You can choose “D” or limit the top gear with “S” mode right? Are you thinking of ECT?

    No, if you have vF tuner, you can see all the different maps that are specific to S-mode. It is much more than just a gear limiter. ECT is yet another layer of alternate maps.

    I've use the S modes for braking on long steep hills, and towing. They do not do anything special in my truck except keep it in the gear you choose much longer than drive, till you reach a certain rpm point like 5k...then it will shift to the next gear automatically just as if in drive to drop engine rpm. Its the ECT mode thats much different...noticed the engine gets louder, and shift points are radically longer. Fuel economy goes down the chitter to.

    Just wait until the torque converter starts acting up when you're stopped at a light. That's the next step.

    But the stealership says there's nothing wrong, and insists that it's perfectly normal. o_O
