Best use of $2500 towards my build.

So I am getting ready to begin my build. I am anticipating a bonus next Friday. It should be about $2500.
I have a new 2010 Super White DC SR5 (option 2). It has stock steel wheels. Below is my plan based on what I have been quoted.

17” Motometal Series MO955 Wheels: $750

265/70/17 LRE

$329+ BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 Tires

BFG All Terrain KO tires: $850

Mounting and Balancing: $50

Front/Rear Bilstein 5100’s: $300

TRD Cat-Back Single Outlet Exhaust: $385

TOTAL: $2285

I have not had the rear suspension TSB done yet. Not sure if I should do it before, after or not at all.

Anyone’s thoughts on these items, set-up, prices, tsb etc., please let me know.

I would get cheaper wheels but that is just me. I would get tires and wheels for around 1300 and then you can spend more on coilovers and then save for UCA's. What kind if any off roaring will you be doing?

And get the rear tsb if you plan on towing/ hauling anything.

 

personaly i dont like the wheels, but of course thats your call. i think they might be cheaper here though, unless your gonna buy them from a 4WP store and not have to pay shipping. i'd also consider a little larger tires if your gonna set the bili's to a lift setting. either way your trucks gonna look sweet.

Not a lot of serious off roading. Some light trails here and there for hunting and camping but for the most part street riding.

 

Ya just go with the bilstein 5100s then.

Dude, get the black 951's. Ultra sic! Plus you HAVE TO do the blacked out head light mod! GOTTA on a white truck with black wheels! way sic!

 

Are you going to get any coils for those bilstein 5100s??

I have heard that you need to/recommended when installing new shocks. I have read also that alot of guys on here use the OME 884 or 885 coils with the billies. 884 for single cabs,885 for double cabs,886 for aftermarket front bumper..... someone correct me if I'm wrong!!!

 

If you want your truck to look big and tough, then you're on the right track. If you're wanting better performance, then get a locker and upgrade the tires.

EDIT: Just saw you have a pre-runner. Looks like you're on the right track with your list.

 

No you do not NEED new coils with the 5100s. If you are going to get OME coils- I would recommend getting OME shocks (The shock valving is build for the springs when you get all OME gear- Start mix and match stuff and you can get weird ride effects)- but then you are getting into a different price range than the 5100s.
For your use..the 5100s will be more than enuf.

AS far as the TSB- I would get it before. You can see where the truck sits with the TSB and then decide where to set your 5100s....and decide if you want to get an AAL for the rear.

 

I would skip the cat back and just weld in a muffler, you can get a muffler and have it installed for around 150 and will have the same effects. noise.

 

It's your money and truck, but since your asking for our opinions here you go... Save your cash and don't go w/a TRD cat back or any cat back just weld on a muffler you have a new truck the pipes aren't rusted out. and finally I would go get the leaf sping TSB cause it might be difficult to get it later. Just my 2 cents

I would ditch the over priced rims and find something for around $100-175 a piece and find some better tires than the BFG that are WAY OVER PRICED...

Check treadepot.com for better tire prices, Coopper makes a really good tire (Discover ST $106 each) and downsouthmotorsports.com or wheelersoffroad.com have the best prices on 5100 at $275ish for all four corners.

Scratch the TRD cat back, I've heard complaints of it having an annoying cab drone. But I would figure about $200 for the muffler of your choice and install.

I think you could get more bang for you buck by looking at other sites and items.

I agree that the TRD exhaust is real spendy!Check out you tube alot of people have videos up with their muffler choice so you can get a listen.Also check out the goodyear duratrac's,alot of longtime BFG fans are recommending them.
