Im getting a new Black 2016 Tacoma but I don't want to pay $500 for paint protection, I have been told that its a scam anyway to get that and using a good wax is just as good. So I ask, can anyone tell me a good product to use..??

I have a MGM that I buffed out with Wolfgang paint sealant 3.0 and it looks great, best part is they say it should last up to 6 months.

I like to use a paint sealant then go over that with a nice cabana wax. That way you get the 6-7 months protection on the sealant and the deep richness of the cabana.

I like Meguiar's NXT sealant and Meguiar's 21 High Tech yellow both in liquid for easy application. Make sure to get some decent microfiber towels for that black paint.

If you cruise Youtube look up AmmoNYC and change the way you wash and dry your truck.

    That's what I use.

    It's actually a sealant.

I have used it. It's OK. On my daily driven truck Meguir's is dollar for dollar some of the best.

But you can try anything. The most import thing is not the product that you use. It is using it and using it correctly. Because you will install more scratches than the environment will.

Use a decent product and good microfiber and it will turn out well. Use the 2 bucket system to wash and a seperate bucket for wheels and tires only. Touch the paint as little as possible.

This is also actually a sealant. Throw a coat of carbana wax on top of it and it will really pop.

Well, my truck is always garaged (as are my other cars) and it gets a coat of wax every 90 to 120 days (takes two hrs). I use either Mothers or Meguiars, liquid carnuba wax. Nothing exotic or real pricey, just do it often and keep it clean. I use 303 protectant on all plastic and vinyl surfaces - per their directions. Paint on my 09 Corolla, 11 Camry and truck ( all vehicles are silver ) looks like new. Yeah, I know the always garaged thing, makes a big difference in paint maintenance. My cars aren't "show" cars, they're drivers and I like them to look good, but I'm not obsessed. Mothers and Meguiars fit the bill and only a "finish" expert "might" be able to tell, if it was a contest - LOL

Meguires Ultimate Liquid wax is AWESOME. 100% pure synthetic sealant (it's not a real "wax"). Super easy application/removal and rated as Meguires longest lasting last step product. Also, I use Turtle Wax Ice SPRAY wax after every wash. It is amazing stuff. I've never cared much for TW products but this stuff blows my mind. The shine is better than any product I've used before. Try it, you won't be disappointed. And for $8 bucks you can't go wrong. Wipe on-wipe off. And you can use it on windows and trim, too. No more wiper chatter.

Hey boss, i know you said that you heard the paint protector is a scam and were skeptical. I tell you that could not be further from the truth. Dupont, ibex, and 3m are the top names in teflon coating. The big thing is the warranty. Even if they did sell you air, the warranty is unbeatable. If annnnnny thing fucks that paint up, you are covered. I put it on allllllll my vehicles. I had a buddy that had an infiniti and the dealership he bought from used dupont. Believe it or not, you could actually feel the teflon on the car. Its bad ass shit man and if you plan on offroading in your '16 tacoma, you will wish you had it.
