Plexus is great stuff and will fill light scratches. The problem with it is that you need to rub it in (buff it) after applying. The last thing that you want to do in this particular situation is rub the plastic and possibly add scratches.

Like I posted above, gentle use of a swiffer duster (I don't use the wand part) and single, quick wipe with a cleaner and soft MF cloth is your best bet.

The bottom-line is the instrument cluster plastic is cheap and it bothers me.

My point earlier... I think they all are, but the angle in the Tacoma illuminates the scratches.

I agree. The fact that we're still dealing with crap like this in 2018 is really frustrating. If Toyota would simply make the cluster cover out of the same plastic they use to manufacture their headlights - problem solved!

Light buff with the above mentioned microfiber cloth as needed shouldn't induce anymore scratches. The big point here, just like the piano black finish a lot of automakers like to put on the B-pillars of cars, is to only clean/touch it when necessary. Don't make it part of your weekly detail.

They are. Toyota's scratch easily. Ford's scratch easily. Honda's scratch easily. Ram's scratch easily. The list goes on...
Amusingly, my '84 Ram has zero scratches or hazing on a plastic instrument panel cover that is 30+ years old, so clearly something has changed. The one on my '69 is just starting to get some haze, after nearly 50 years

yeah, I've never touched my instrument cluster with anything but a high quality, thick microfibre I wash with the chemical guys detergent that leaves the towels as soft as anything I've ever used. it's scratched to hell. I have some of the Grotto stuff I need to use to see if I can get the scratches toned down a bit.

but now that the truck is nearly 2 years old I'm feeling less bothered by it. looking at a bunch of scratched plastic on a truck you just paid a lot of money for when it's nearly brand new is annoying. not as much anymore.

why there isn't a good screen protector like they have for phones for that yet IDK. if someone on TW has the capability to create something functional that will eliminate scratches and even reduce glare, no question there'd be plenty of orders...

In the sticky thread, folks have had luck applying film on the cover.

If there are particles on the cluster when you wipe them with soft towels, they will add scratches. They need to be lifted away first.
