Toyota has a way over tuned traction control system. It's complete garbage in the winter. You should be able to turn it off on the fly but you can't, instead you have to put a switch on the ABS to turn it off in a panic.

Well damn. I've had 2 separate incidents, but I don't believe they were ABS related. One is in preschool and the other in diapers. I think I'm going to take the switch out to see if that helps. :homer:

Put it in 4-Low and lock the rear diff. Disables the ABS.

Had to do this when coming back off a mountain on Christmas eve that a freak snow storm (in Arizona) dumped 4 inches of snow on me.

Gonna be doing the ABS kill switch mod for sure...

No desire personally to disable on public roads, but would love the option off-road

I took my switch out 6 months after tying the knot. No issues as of yet, and if there ever are any... Well I suppose it's a possibility I didn't do it right, but it's more likely someone else's problem :D

Correct. I only turn mine off when on loose gravel off-roading.

I agree, my ABS has got me into a few sticky situations from the ABS overreacting over any little patch of ice or mud. Maybe it work son the street with street tires but I hate my ABS off road

Every terrain? Not true. Only surfaces that can build up under the tire like deep gravel, sand and loose snow would make a car stop slightly sooner without ABS by locking the wheels, effectively creating a wedge between the tires and the surface. This is of course only true in a straight line comparison as you lose any steering ability when the wheels are locked.

What's a "dynamic synaptic reaction"? The driver's senses/nerves reacting to the vehicle and driving conditions?
