Best way to disable ABS

    ABS increases stopping distances on all low traction surfaces , thats not an opinion

    One winter while pulling into my icy driveway at low speed, I bounced my wives car about 5 feet from where she had parked due to the ABS kicking in. The driveway was not an ice rink, it just had patches of hard pack snow that were slippery.
    That spring I installed the kill switch.
    Also had a friend that "slid" into a busy street from a parking lot because the ABS kicked on.
    There are times it is good and times it is dangerous, imo.

    If it's not an opinion then there should be a logical reason why ABS increases stopping distances. Why would it increase it? All it does is prevent a wheel from locking up. And a locked wheel has less braking power than a wheel that still rotates close to the locking point. Except on loose surfaces like gravel or deep snow.

    This that and the other thing.
    you are not completely wrong with this statement, but I feel the ABS system, when it allows the wheel to continue spinning to prevent it from locking it up, it isn't as close to the locking point as it could be. when I'm applying the brake I can feel how hard i can apply the brake before the wheels lock up. so in certain scenarios I can brake and keep it closer to the locking point then the abs system, which if accomplished correctly, since I'm applying more brake then the abs system without locking up the wheel, I will stop sooner.

    Thanks for the link. "on dry or wet roads...will be about the same as without ABS"...."...longer....on gravel, slush and snow". That's exactly what I said - what they call the "plow" on loose surfaces I called a "wedge". This does not support that braking distances will increase on slippery surfaces.

    Exactly - if you can brake perfectly at the threshold, you don't need ABS at all, and it will never kick in. ABS only kicks in if one of your wheels goes beyond the threshold and starts locking up. And if you are on a loose surface, braking beyond the threshold will create the wedge and stop you faster than braking at the threshold. Therefore ABS can result in longer straight line stopping distances on loose surfaces.

    Unfortunately for me, I tried the abs kill switch mod and the switch wouldn't work... and just to test it I disconnected the wires from the back of the switch I installed knowing it would fail, and it still wouldn't deactivate abs....

    So I'm guessing the light green wire I'd not the abs wire on my truck : /

    Looked like the guy was running the exact same vehicle for both scenarios in the vid. From what I gathered the point was break sooner, with more ease, stop faster. It's not rocket science on snow/ice... I have no experience off road.
