Obviously lots of people talk about protecting the frame when living in the rust belt. But I never see anyone talk about applying anything inside the rockers?

What's the best way to get in there to apply this stuff? I see a nine little rubber plugs looking up, do those provide enough access inside for the little 360* sprayer?

I spray inside the dog legs and the drain holes in all the doors. Curious to see what others are doing.

I thought about doing that area by using something like corrosion x in an undercoating gun with 100lbs of pressure set on the compressor. I think that amount of pressure will make the corrosion X into a mist and you could probably get it pretty good from just one of those little holes with 2 or 3 burst.

Worthy a test. Very good product! If you do test this theory, please report back!

I put the little red tube on the can and spray up into the weep holes in the pinch seam and I've even removed the plugs and sprayed in there.
Unlike the frame, I think one application would last for years since this area isn't blasted with water and debris while driving down the road.
Like @Steelhead Bum said, I also spray up into the drain holes in my doors. I like to do it now, when it's really hot out so it will wick into all the little crevices. I even have to wipe off the outsides of my doors for a while afterwards because it wicks/creeps up the outsides of the door as it drains back out.
In fact, I just ran a zip tie up into all of my door drain holes the other day to make sure nothing is clogged. All was good.
In the doors and rockers, I also like to use Dollar General's WD-40 knock off. It's a little thicker than WD-40, but I think it wicks better than Fluid Film.

I just take some corrosion X HD with the spray straw, remove all the rocker plugs and do a 360 in each hole. Then I replace the plugs and never mess with it again.

Interesting, never heard of Corrosion X

I also do the weep holes every year. Im hoping that has helped ward off the worst of it. I like the idea of using a zip tie to clear out the holes too. I need to do that to both the rockers and the door drains. Both have gotten filled up with mud and old fluid film over time.

The 360 degree spray wand that comes with the 6-pack of FF aerosol does a real good job of misting the contents. And it should fit easily into those little plugs. That will probably be the way I go

Various types of CorrosionX. Find the type best suited for your needs. In my case, I have used the CorrosionX HD for the frame. It is thicker and tackier than the regular.

Best thing about the regular corrosion X is it smells like coffee (lol at least to me). The regular corrosion X in the red can is pretty thin and leaves a very thin film. Probably is more ideal to do inside the rockers.

The HD stuff goes on pretty heavy and will leave a greasy layer on anything you apply it to, and it will not come off something like the frame unless you physically wipe it off.

I use Fluid Film on my two Tacomas, and for the rocker panels I use the long flexible straw that FF sells. It's nicely made, replacing the standard nozzle with one to which is attached a long tube with a tiny 360º brass spray nozzle on its end.

I got a three-pack of FF rattlecans plus the extension sprayer from the Big A.

Yup, thats the 360 nozzle I was talking about. Ive had very good luck with it. Cant see any reason why it wont work for the rockers too as long as the little plugs allow enough access to bend the hose

My only gripe with fluid film in the rockers, and likely won’t affect you cause you are in Maine but even in Maryland, when it gets hot out or vehicle gets parked in the sun, that sheep ballsack smell gets cranking and you can smell it in the cab. Eventually it gets better but still.

Years ago, one of my dad's work trucks had a diesel tank in the back that he used to fill his back hoes and dozers, out in the field. Years later, he got out of the business and sold off the equipment. A friend of the family bought that truck and I painted it for him. It was pretty beat up and had a lot of little rust spots on it. Where the diesel had spilled and puddled over the years, it had a film of lightly greasy dirt. When we took that tank out and cleaned it up, the paint under all that diesel looked like new.
Moral of the story?? People will criticize the use of a light oil, but even that is better than nothing. The nice thing about the WD-40 knock off stuff from DG, is that it's really easy to apply while you roll around under your truck on a creeper. It sprays a bit farther than Fluid Film too. I'm not saying not to use FF, but just use something!

I use Woolwax because they had a black dyed version first, and because it's thicker than Fluid Film. I have their spray gun to use with my compressor and pair it with the 360° nozzle extension which works great. I've sprayed anywhere and everywhere I can reach inside and outside of the frame and rockers, apply it once each year but it's like 3 layers deep now and almost like a second layer of paint at this point. Has it's own smell but it isn't the "sheeps ballsack" and won't run when it gets hot outside.

If you can get the full spray gun 360 nozzle in there I guess I wont have any issues with the one meant for aerosol cans. That's like 1/4 the diameter of the spray gun one

I did my rockers today after I greased the drive train. Since I had a full can of FF I just used that and the 360 straw. I also cut a piece of bailing wire the length of the straw and taped it to the straw to give in more rigid strength so you can push it in the length of the straw. You only need to pull 3 or 4 plugs per side with just your fingers. The holes are probably 5/8.
