uhm, yeah...I only wish that I knew what you were talking about.

Could ya'll please explain that gear stuff in English please? I don't know a lot about the gears/power output. Except that smaller diameter gears are better for torque/small bursts of power for taking off? And bigger diameter gears are better for spreading out that power? I'm reliving my bicycling days =)

In your rear diff (and front diff if you are 4x4) you have a ring and pinion that changes the direction of rotation from the driveshaft to you axles. It does this with gears. The V6 2nd gens, have a 3.73:1 ratio. A higher numbered gear, like my 4.88:1, will give the engine a better mechanical advantage over the tires, but at a higher rpm. The driveshaft must spin 3.73 times to turn the tires once, so with 4.88's it is now turning over 1 whole time more, but you gain more mechanical advantage.

With a 2:1 pulley system vs a 1:1, you now only pull half the weight but you have to pull twice as much rope. Similar idea here.

It was mid build. Did you notice the 90* gusset shackles? How about the 2x4 the plate is screwed on to? lol

Gear numbers are a ratio. u take the number of teeth on the piece that goes into the differential and divid that into the number on the gears in the diff. subsequently, that number is how many revolutions is made ur drive shaft in relation to if wheel (stock tire size) I.e. 3.73 gears would be 3.73:1 respectively 4.10:1 would be quicker because its easier for the motor to turn than. higher gear. think of it as a 10 speed bike, its much easier to get up to speed in 1st than 10th and much easier on ur legs (the motor) but u can't go as fast.

    I take it you're talking about a 3.4 L on your 4runner vs a 4.0 L engine on the taco?

    What is a N/A tune?

I've read that the v6 provides 236 hp. Looking around at wiki and some reviews suggest that a stock supercharger should increase that by 60 - 70 hp.

N/A means naturally aspirated. Basically your aren't running any boost, ie supercharger or turbocharger. So tune just means getting a tuning device, like the URD maf calibrator and tuning it to get the most performance out of your engine.

Yeah the TRD S/C adds a good amount of power. Those numbers apply more to sealevel (the higher the elevation the less dense the air and the less power you make) and at the motor output rather than at your tires.

Yep, the 4.0 will blow my old 3.4 out of the water.

N/A tune = tuning with a URD MAF Calibrator or APR X1/UCON EMS (05-08 taco's only) this adjust timing and air fuel ratios for best power output. This can be done on stock (N/A, naturally aspirated) and boosted set-ups (necessary on boosted set-ups).
Stock is 236 hp at the crank, at the wheels, about 190 hp (on a dyno). The tranny, t-case, diff and tires steal some hp.

Normally aspirated (not supercharged), and CT is way off on the HP figures.

You're going to be doing well to get 20hp out of intake, exhaust, and tune. Where he pulled 30-40hp without cam or tune I have no clue, because it simply does not work that way. You can't trust manufacturer claims, and when the header manufacturer says 10 and the intake manufacturer says 10, that does not get you 20.

Get really high first....it will feel like a totally different truck. 20 mile per hour will feel like 85.;) and it will only cost you 100 bucks a month.

ok....I might not be THAT much into acceleration. I used to get a lot of speeding tickets, but that was only because I was going over the speed limit. Its still legal to haul some butt as long as your staying under the speed limit and not endangering others.

Anyhow, if I thought I were a little more into this area I would definitely look into that. I don't care who you are that is just freakin' bad a...lets just say awesome!

Actually you can still get popped for exhibition of speed without going over the limit.

So I take it you got that speed without a supercharger? I've seen that a lot can be done to increase the speed...but that's pretty good. The last I saw the stock v6 runs a 0 - 60 in 8.2 seconds. Adding a supercharger brings this number down to 6.8 seconds.
