Not to mention it's one of the most smug and selfish things I've ever seen. Nope, nobody else on the road besides me has anywhere else to go, anything else to do. Why should my 10 minute ride to work be drawn out to 20 just because some 'tard hypermiler feels like blocking traffic? I need one of those Warn bumpers so I can push his Prius into the ditch.

There was a writeup I saw saying this 'hypermiling' crap is going to cause more cases of ROADRAGE! Aint worth it.

I don't mind people trying to save gas, but when you're holding up traffic by going 10-15mph under the limit (and 15-20 slower than everyone else) you need to get off the road!

I'm with ya Wilson! I can't count the number of times I've been held up behind 4-5 cars on the way to work because of a Prius doing 45 in a 55. I don't race to work since there's so many things that make me slow or stop that anyone I pass catches up so it's pointless. BUT, I do think you should be doing the speed limit! If not, pull over! All the talk is 55mph is the best for mpg so why is it always someone doing 45 holding up traffic?!?!

On my way to work in the morning there is hardly ever anybody behind me. So I tried hypermiling on my last tank of gas. As many of you know, my driving habits are pretty performance oriented. I've been averaging 12 mpg since I got my truck. Anyways with this last tank of gas I averaged 18 mpg. Put the bitch in neutral when going downhill etc...

I never let the bitch go below the speed limit when people are behind me, I agree with most that is it a selfish thing to go below the speed limit when doing this. But you can hypermile without actaully holding up traffic, I did it on my last tank.

^^Agreed! People just need to use common sense. Unfortunately, too many people lack it.

That's what I do. If the road is empty or a I have a BIG gap around me I just pop the car in neutral and have a relaxing ride to work down the hills. lol Saves gas, and helps me keep my blood pressure down before getting to work. :D I leave early for work anyway incase I run across school buses, slow trucks, construction, or just congestion in the spider web of stop signs/red lights once I hit the city. So I don't have to race to be at work on time. Helps keep my road rage in check too.

I get mad as hell when people go under the speed limit.

Sunday I was on my way to the beach and this moron Afgan dude was doing like 32MPH in a 45 in his chromed out Mercedes MLsomething (the SUV thing). Eventually he got to a red light behind me and he went to turn to the right, ignored the red light, and nearly rammed some Saturn who was turning with a green light

When I had a CAI and exhaust on my Dodge Ram - the gas mileage actually suffered. I've had success with one or the other - but not both together.

With the exhaust only - got 2mpg increase.

I have the AFE drop in, removed secondary, and last oil chnage, went to 0W30 full synthetic. Last 4 tanks have been 20-21 mpg with 265-75 yokahoma geolanders. driving is combo of highway and city, approx 80 miles per day. I'm sure if I stayed below 70 and kept my foot out of it in the city, it would get better. I'm also looking for those elusive improvements in mileage for a couple hundred bucks. It appears that other than changing driving habits, cat-back exhaust from local shop may be best route in this price range.

Exactly! I do the same thing & can tell a big difference. On my way home @ 5am, no traffic around. I was filling up every 3 or 4 days (40 mile oneway commute), now I can go 5 days before filling up.
I never do it if someone is behind me. I also can't stand to be behind people that are going 10miles below the speed limit.

Except for the paint, without it, you will pick up for parasitic drag

Driveing around with the tail gate down will eliminate air drag or you could remove it all together and reduce weight also.

So I guess no tailgate would be your best bet huh. Thanks for the link.
