yes, this is a very ridiculous question, I'm aware. I'm not a big camping person so I'm not familiar with any camping type gear that might work for this, but I need a tiny freezer set up in the truck just temporarily. I will be traveling to somewhere without any kitchen facilities, and I need to make a frozen sandwich, pretty much every single day.

I have seen some tiny portable freezers on Amazon, but I'm not sure how they operate, and I believe a toaster might be too powerful for the factory cigarette lighter port with an adapter.

My truck didn't come with the factory bed outlet either.

    Thanks in advance

Most of the cheaper (sub $300) coolers/freezers use Peltier elements, very much not effecient or really up to the task. Any good fridge/freezer will have a compressor.

I don't think it's going to be cost effective for it to be a temp setup. You can use a normal power inverter connected straight to the battery, just compare the wattage/amps listed on the inverter(usually listed as Peak amps) you need to take into account peak amps (starting current) as well as continuous current.

Dry ice with a styrofoam cooler in the bed?

I don't know if there's a good sub $1000 way to do what you're asking, honestly. Keeping food cold is easy, frozen is hard.

Cooler and a camp stove. Not sure how you keep things frozen unless you go dry ice.

Fresh sammichs sound better than frozen ones anyways.

    Look into the
This... 12 volt toaster, will plug into the bed outlet or other 12v outlet.

This is a decent refrigerator/freezer, this can plug into the cigarette lighter port.

Then find a solar panel set up to keep them running at camp.

Diesel or gas generator mounted out of the way up on the roof rack. You should also add a meat slicer, and crock pot in the bed.

Can you give us more specifics of why you absolutely must have a frozen sandwich or is it too personal? Asking because maybe we can help give better ideas besides dropping $500-1000 on a Dometic or equivalent freezer. Without more info this seems like a ridiculous request when a) better food exists without such a fuss, and b) doing a freezer for a sandwich is ridonkulous unless there’s a very specific reason.

Yeah, unfortunately I need to keep one of the ingredients Frozen. Otherwise like you said it would be simple with an ice chest.

Like I said it's ridiculous, but let's just say it has to do with some mental health issues, severe ones at that.

Yeah, I also wonder what has to stay frozen and if an ingredient swap would save you a big headache of trying to keep things frozen.

EDIT: Can't sub frozen for something else... question below still applies

Also, where will you be traveling? If you're driving across northern North Dakota, it will take less energy to keep something frozen stored in the truck bed (with or without a shell/tonneau) than it would be driving across the southern US.

The best part is this will all be done within the city limits of Los Angeles. I just pretty much can't leave the truck and the facility, so the truck will now be the kitchen and dining room.

You can reduce the power consumption of your toaster/toaster oven by putting your frozen sandwich wrapped in foil on top of your engine out of the way of any belts, fan blades or exhaust and potentially fully heat up your meal that way.

At 4.50 to 6 bucks for a gallon of gas here, that's gonna get seriously expensive.

Thanks. Oddly enough I never even googled a 12 volt toaster, didn't think such a thing would even exist but I don't know why I thought that.
