OK no worries, just trying to see if I can help find a workaround/substitution.

Let’s try this: How big are the sandwiches and how many do you have to carry at one time? If you were not cooking them from your truck, how would you cook them in a house using regular kitchen gear?

They make 12 volt coffee pots too, just about every appliance has a 12 volt cousin. ;)

Would literally just be one sandwich per day, so super tiny freezer would work just fine. I might just have to go with the dry ice idea and pick up dry ice every few days or so.

Like an idiot, I didn't even think that I would need to keep the truck on to power the freezer.

You could wired it up directly to your battery, but that won't last more than half a day if that with a cheap, inefficient freezer...

If you had a dozen of spare car batteries, you could wire them up and have them in your bed to potentially have enough capacity to run your freezer and toaster without ever starting up the truck...

Another option is to rent a Honda generator or buy a Harbor Freight knockoff and run your freezer and toaster off that.

Couple more questions to help narrow down a reasonable solution:

Cooking directions for said sandwich? (From my previous comment)

    Budget for this whole project?

It literally just goes in a regular two slice toaster. So I wouldn't need an oven or anything else. And I was hoping to keep the budget at a bare minimum since it will only be for probably 2 months, and I literally never go camping so it would be a waste.

I mean, I guess an inverter generator would work, right?

Ok here’s what I would do for the toaster:

Buy a propane camp stove that uses Coleman 1lb propane bottles. You should be able to find these just about anywhere for pretty cheap. Then get something like this below for toasting:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007HRIYDY?ie=UTF8#aw-udpv3-customer-reviews_feature_div

That setup would let you toast things without complication or cost of electric powered toasters. Propane stove plus that toaster thingy probably less than $100. Sell the stove when done and recoup probably half your costs or more. Or start camping more.

    Freezer conundrum I’m still pondering…

Health issues, sounds like it might be worth investing in a good fridge. You don't have to go full Domestic, but with black friday deals afoot there should be some good deal.

I agree with Sandman if you can afford it. Lots of good quality compressor driven fridges but don’t be fooled this route still costs some coin.

I’d wager even the most cost effective dual battery setup and good deal on a fridge would run $500 or more.

Amazon/Chinesium 12v “freezer” and a Jackery power pack maybe under $500 but higher possibility to shit the bed.

Low tech option of a cooler and dry ice / regular ice might cost you $1 per day and be a hassle but probably most cost effective if only doing for a month. Simple and seems easiest to me.

All this food talk made me hungry, I’ve got to get dinner now…good luck OP on your quest.

Thank you. It's not so much the money I'm worried about, just feel like it would be a waste of a fridge after I am done although I could probably sell it. I am definitely leaning towards the dry ice option, and that way won't have to worry about draining any batteries or catching fire or anything either. Although picking up the dry ice will be a pain in the ass.

I keep a few of these in my truck at all times. You dont need to keep them cold and they heat themselves if you just add water. My favorite is the chili with a bag of Fritos.

One more possibly dumb question: for the frozen ingredients does it have to stay fully 100% frozen like a caveman on ice all day long?

If not, and assuming you have a home base with a fridge/freezer, do a cooler with regular ice. For camping I freeze water bottles (specifically Dasani for thicker walled plastic) and throw in the cooler as reusable ice. You can also buy those ice packs but that gets expensive for a large cooler.

That method may result in your frozen ingredients getting a little thawed but definitely the cheapest and easiest of all choices.

Thats weird it's in English for me? If you live near a Sportsmans Warehouse they usually have them in stock next to the mountain house food.

I was actually just going to post this, it's not meat or cheese or anything like that so even if it does get thawed out I think it will be okay. I was actually exploring this option at first, but figured a tiny freezer would just make it easier, but apparently not.

I am assuming you are talking about someone else going with you, but even if you aren't, good for you for taking this into consideration. Mental health issues are serious, as "ridiculous" as they may sound to others. I have dealt with people close to me who suffer similar things.

Hope you have fun on the trip.

I'm really curious about what sandwich ingredient has to stay frozen. Like an ice cream or what?
