So I have called a couple dealers all who promised me they would call me as soon as they can get me a Tacoma TRD Pro.

And when I go search the inventory now, I see bunch of TRD Pros sale pending in my area.

If it weren't for my particular situation where I'm waiting for extended warranty and gap to be refunded onto my current loan I might be a bit upset about it.. but as it is right now I ... HOPE ... that I have time.

What I glean from this is obviously I can't trust the specific dealer to find me one. I'm sorry if I seem harsh but when he says he will do his best to find me one and then I can find a bunch that are "sale pending," one of them being exactly the color and everything I asked for, just at a different dealership, it makes me feel that way.

I'll omit my criticisms of Toyota's sales process for brevity/sanity purposes.

What is the best way that I can INSURE that I can get one? coz this doesn't seem to be working.

Just search the inventory every day?

Another thought of mine was to call multiple dealers in the area and have all of the dealers in my local area looking for one for me. But that is contingent on having a dealer look for me being something that actually works.

I am honestly really frustrated and dare I say I hate the process of finding Toyotas. It's completely impossible for anything other than blindly buying a trim at random.

My other frustration is that no one seems to be able to give a release date, but I've seen multiple "sale pending" even BEFORE TODAY on ones listed in the inventory.

So I have no idea whether or not any timeline or anything. So as far as the timeline I have of having to wait for those refunds to come off my loan etc. I'm blind as far as knowing what will happen.

And quite honestly the only thing that stopped me from saying f*** Toyota and going with Ford or another Jeep is that the dealer promised me he would find me one.

Doesn't really matter if the vehicle is better. If the vehicle is impossible to obtain.

Most of those people who are getting them ahead of you put down deposits almost a year ago, way back when the trucks were first announced. It’s unreasonable to expect you’ll get dibs on a truck before them.

And you’d do well to not be in such a rush. You’ve lived this long without a 4th gen Pro, you’ll be ok without it for a few more months. I understand the frustration of not getting what you really want right away. I bought a 2023 because they were just taking so long to roll out the 2024s and I needed something. I’ll almost certainly own it a for less than a year before picking up a 2024 this fall. Bad timing, but not that big a deal. I’ll probably get a decent amount of my money back on the resale/trade-in. Go snag an OR for the time being. If you can afford a pro, you can afford the hit on owning an OR for a short time.

I appreciate the response but do you understand how frustrating it is to ask a question and not have it answered?

The last time I asked a question on here it spiraled into a bunch of people giving me their opinions on everything EXCEPT what I was asking, making massive assumptions about me, and through multiple attempts not having my question answered.

I don't need to be told any of the things I was told. I WANT TO KNOW --> WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO FIND A TOYOTA THAT I WANT.

Period. Don't care about anything else anyone has to say.

I'm sorry to be blunt but why did I even write here if I'm not gonna have my question answered.

So the last time I actually called someone and found all the answers to my questions. They were questions that a dealer could answer objectively.

A dealer won't be able to answer this question objectively because they'll just say "Oh why don't I find one for you" (so you can buy it from him).

You know what.. Nevermind.. I'll figure it out myself. I'm not doing this again.

    And this is why:

"It’s unreasonable to expect you’ll get dibs on a truck before them."

    I'm done. OUT. BYE.

Toyota doesnt really do reservations, its the dealer that has to, and it varies dealer to dealer.

Typically the dealer will know their allotment and will know how many valid buyers are on the list. First year TRD pro will be limited so they are all likely spoken for with deposits.

It will be an odd thing, will 4runner/land cruiser come out at the same time and cause inter competition?

This is why the response I got pissed me off.

Some people say "oh they put in a deposit when the universe was born!!! GASP.. how can you be so dumb, and entitled... to think that .. Since you didn't put a deposit, before the universe was born... that you should get one..."

And then the dealers themselves don't tell me that. They tell me when I get one in you'll be the first I call.

And then I ask a simple question on here to ask from experienced people what's the best way .. NOW.. NOW NOW NOW . *** IN CURRENT TIME ***

HUGE DISCLAIMER !!!!!!!! For people so that they don't write my life story and biography before they even meet me... Huge dislaimer.. That doesn't mean I'm in a rush..

Telling me that I need to put a deposit down 300 days before today.. I'm sorry but.. Time machines don't exist... So that's why.. I ask NOW... NOW... what is the best way NOW... to find what I'm looking for.

Because I figure people here have experience and can tell me the best way to go about it. But instead I have people filling out my biography writing out everything about me as they know me.. I'm rushing, I'm entitled, i'm this I'm that..

You have no idea how infuriating internet forums have been for this. I'm sick of being pigeonholed by people instead of having my questions answered.

And the guy that asked me if I'm ok.. No I don't like wasting my time. I don't like people assuming 4271240871347809137081709815230791532079513907513907078951313513590753907509 things and then not answering my question

    This forum
    Jeep gladiator forum
    Countless Facebook Groups
    basically most internet forums.

It's to the point where I would prefer just learning everything I can from what's available on the Internet and never dealing with people because people never objectively reply to you.

They always have to form opinions about you, judge you, and then waste your time.

And anyone who doesn't understand that I'm sorry but you're lacking intelligence and I want nothing to do with them. "OMG what a pompous ass" ... no. I just prefer to not waste my time and get judged and ridiculed and God knows what else for my trouble.

Calling the community stupid because you're impatient and lack basic social skills is an odd way to ask for help.

    Your post history is nuts.

What's wrong? why are you replying this way....

I came here with a simple question. I searched inventory I found this basically what I said in the post.. and I asked .. what is the best way to find exactly what I'm looking for.

I didn't ask, to be told I should have made a deposit a year ago.
I didn't ask to be called unreasonable.
I didn't ask to have people assume I'm in a rush and then go into paragraphs giving me advice on something that isn't the case.

Which btw-- No thank you, I'm not going to buy a TRD Off Road that isn't exactly what I want and then have to trade it in later at a loss. And BTW I can't even find one of those to my specifications!

I don't wanna hear oh it's not gonna be at a loss. I don't wanna get into financials. I don't want to get OFF TOPIC.

I just wanted to know, what is the best way to find the specific vehicle I'm looking for and to ensure I get one.

Instead of being told that. I got a bunch of useless info. And it always happens, and it's clear it's a waste of my time to continue.

And the funny thing is. One of my considerations is that I probably will have to wait 6-8 weeks for this extended warranty/gap refund to hit. That's the complete opposite of being in a rush.

It's not unreasonable to want to have knowledge of .. Hey.. when's the ETA on these vehicles coming out? When are they gonna start coming in? How can I make sure that I can allot myself one? Because that helps me to have a picture in my mind about how to move forward and what's gonna happen.

But apparently that's too much to ask.

Step 1: Go to Toyota.com and search their inventory for a Pro in a reasonable radius from you that isn’t pending

Step 2: Refer to step 1

If it makes you feel better, I sat down with salesman and test drove a Tacoma.
He wanted me to fill out a “build sheet” with exactly what I want so they can “order it” and take my deposit.

i said just let me know when u get a red one and I’ll come look (i wasnt ready to commit to the $$ deposit & waiting game) and I haven’t heard a lick from him ever since…

    __
When acquiring my GR86, I placed multiple deposits at multiple dealers as soon as they were announced, and got:

    >>> the EXACT color & spec I wanted with minimal TUSA/port add-ons.
    >>> The Second month they were sold (they sold a couple hundred nationwide the 1st month)
    >>>> AT A DEALER I Hadn’t given a deposit to

Then got to call all the other dealers & request my deposits back on the ride home.

Found it with a google search with a result to the dealer website, “allegedly a few minutes” after it was posted. This was a dealer that does not take deposits for phantom cars, that doesn’t form lines for an allocation, and doesn’t let employees have 1st dibbs (i assume).

man.. that is some painful reading....

but you want a pro... don't count on a dealer doing anything for you but taking the cash....

you'll want to search inventory daily and when you see a new one pop up, call the dealer....

    and gap insurance is dumb

Go to the dealership you wish to work with. Ask the sales manager for the sales person who has the most integrity who has worked there the longest.

Take them to lunch. Create a relationship. Tell them what you want to buy and how you'll do that (cash, trade, finance etc), figure out a plan and follow their guidance.

A deposit may be a good qualifying buyer plan, but be sure it's refundable.

In the meantime you're in luck!

I just had space in my 'safe place' open up and I can get you right in. Why? 'Cause I'm not interested in reading any more of your posts. I don't have an adequate cheese supply to go with the whine.

Waiting on the gap refund from the last one to get into a new one is probably what is perpetuating his high levels of anxiety. Get a used civic and quit trying to impress everyone else. You'll feel better.

Back when I did finance at a dealership this kid would have been a dream if you could get him financed. Nothing but profit on all the back end loan products he scoops up.
