Best way to shorten u-bolts?

    Yea you're safe, that looks like nominal diameter to me. However I'd use some paint thinner or something to try to get down to bare metal, you're gunna have a much harder time with that paint on there

    I only need like an 1" more thread for them to work if these were 10" long instead of 10 and 1/4 they would of worked

    Are those hd dakars I have the medium duties gonna add the extra leaf but my ubolts are to short just got new ones that are to long

    Well y'all were helpful answered my question I was amazed I didn't don't get ripped for opening a thread from 2014 lol I normally get Jack wagons that are y'all this thread is 6 years old

    Personally I love reviving old threads. :fistbump:Too many new ones get started, which are similar enough to old ones..

    when a person has time to research a problem, It's nice to see a threads answers evolve over time

    When you live in the country one tends to have the friends and locals price and walk in price .

    Once your on a first name basis things really change.

    Most ubolts are made from your standard size round bar stock I can`t recall seeing any with a shoulder in years but time flies .

    It is sad most of the Mom and Pop spring shops are gone so many now don`t build or repair springs in house

    The last Ubolts I bought I paid like $80.00 for 2 complete sets and nuts
