People that tint windshields clearly dont give a fuck about making eye contact with pedestrians or other drivers.

Equaled out to probably close to 5 percent on the shield, will admit was way way way too dark but hey who made smart decisions as a teen chasing girls. Only took a month to get pulled over lolz

I'm of the no tint on windshield camp, though the idea of using a ceramic tint with no shading simply to inhibit heat/UV sounds like a good idea.

No judgement on anyone who does wanna do it, just seems like a potential safety risk at night, and insurance/legal liability in the event of an accident if there's any way you could be at fault.

Just waiting for someone to bring up photo-grey, or transition tint. I've thought, for yrs., how handy it should be. I wanted to invent it as it should keep the bright out during the day, & not hinder the night driving. I've seen it advertised recently, but haven't seen anyone who has tried it. Seemed pretty expensive, but may be well worth the cost. Come on, surely someone around here has tried it.

You're correct. I do not look at the eyes of other drivers. I look at the road and my mirrors.

I would because I have dogs that ride up front anytime the thermometer is 92° or more.

Even with ac on high and all the vents open the direct sun can be brutal when its 114°

    Moot point for me.
    Tint fronts=meet CHP around here.

What is this eye contact of which they speak?

I only look at other drivers if shes cute.
And especially if shes driving a tacoma.
Otherwise, might be hard to make eye contact if the sun is out.

Yep, and I never ‘yield’ to people with tinted windows at an intersection or in a parking lot or anywhere when I normally would, only because I can’t see if they are looking my way.

Excessive tinting is so stupid IMHO. Ask your insurance agent what they will tell you if you’re involved in an accident and your windows are tinted.

You're supposed to follow right of way laws and not care where they're looking. People don't wear sunglasses where you live? What do you do when their face is in your direction but their eyes are turned in a different direction? You must be a ball to share the road with at night.

That crap about insurance is hilarious.

First of all, I do follow the right-of-way laws but there are other times that a person ‘yields’ and that’s why I highlighted the word.

Second, if I can’t see which way a driver’s head is turned I just assume he doesn’t see me, therefore I don’t ‘wave’ him out or into say a parking space or side street if we are stopped etc.

Third, I’ve most likely been driving since before you were born (42 years experience), minimum 40,000 miles annually (I’m in sales)...and no accidents. You’d be lucky to be sharing the road with me at night, if you could see me due to your excessive tint.

Fourth, I know of someone who pulled into the path of an oncoming vehicle at night and was hit broadside. The person claimed he “didn’t see the vehicle coming.” His insurance company penalized him for having unlawful tint (cops had cited him).

Keep doing what you want, hope you don’t get caught or hurt someone. Also I hope Mr. LEO doesn’t get tense when approaching your truck at night and he can’t see you in the truck...good way to get shot.

    Carry on...

1st, if a person yields then there is no issue.

2nd, looking at the driver's head isn't in DMV handbooks for a reason. Looking at the other drivers head is hilarious to me. I don't care where they're looking because I follow laws. You've obviously heard the old saying about assuming...

3rd, I drove 30,000+ miles per year for decades. You don't have a clue how old I am, keep assuming lol. I haven't had an accident in decades, keep assuming lol. If you're looking at drivers heads I don't want to share the road with you because you're making assumptions. I have never written I have excessive tint or any tint for that matter, keep assuming lol.

    4th, I don't believe your story.

If Mr LEO shoots me for having tint - which I currently don't have lol, then he doesn't belong in that occupation.

    Carry on.

This is the only forum I'm on where a bunch of guys get their panties in a wad while trying to set some definition of a word that they can't even agree on what they want it to mean. It's like some gay dude getting pissed when regular people don't use some made up pronoun so they start screeching at the sky. Add tint, don't add tint, I really don't care what you do to your truck.

Incidentally, your user name is ironic, especially considering that I'm not old.

    OP,
you may want to look into Rayno Window Film. I’ve used their “S9 Nano Carbon Ceramic Film” on several vehicles with good results. For the side and back windows I used 35%, legal in my area, and for the front window I used their 5%. While the 5% provides almost no tint it does provide 92% IR-Rejection and 99.99% UV-Rejection. Both my wife and I have found the heat reduction to be significant.

    Good Luck.
