If you can find PIAA silicones their awesome. I currently use Denso's (which are what Toyota uses from the factory) they last about a year here in hawaii and you know we get lots of rain.

I use regular wiper fluid and those Goodyear Assurance have performed flawlessly everytime.

I change them out after 6 months because that is the lifetime of wiper blades out in Colorado.

And I've been running these blades on my vehicles for 3 years so it wasn't just a "lucky" batch.

    That's my experience.

Hmmm... I'll probably get a set of the "higher quality" blades and see how long they last. If they go out just as fast I'll go back to the good years. But it seems that the blades on the other cars in my family don't go out as fast as my goodyear ones did.

What prompted my "ah fuck it" frustration was I bought a set of Icons for my Legacy GT and they last about 3 months before I had to replace them. On top of that they were completely useless in temps below 35 degrees.

After dropping that much money on wiper blades I said fuck it and tried out the Goodyear Assurance from Costco. Like others here said, $8... why not? I've been nothing but extremely pleased with them.

FWIW I run 19" drivers and 18" passenger on my 1st gen.

Rain-X blades and Rain-X "Bug Remover" washer fluid (the actual green fluid, not the additive).

So far so good. Got the Taco last December, it rained later that week and the driver's wiper frame was bent and ended up bending 90 degrees. Dealer wasn't an option at 10pm, grabbed a pair of Rain-X at Wally World and they're still going strong in the LA/SFV/IE heat.

The wipers do get used regularly... not for rain, but to clear fog and dust from the glass. Just got back from a trip to Texas and we got caught in the storms along I-40 between Winslow and Kingman... wipers performed wonderfully.

Maybe I should just buy a few blades and just keep them in my house...

I really dislike Rain-X. The Rain-X's I've had have always been trouble. Streaking, quick wear, and I even had one (somehow) leave a nice long scratch in the glass at the very edge of its wiping pattern.

So wait a minute - you guys are running 19" drivers and 18" passengerblades? isn't the overhang on the passenger side a bit 'long' re: it's not touching the glass due to the bend near where it hits the frame? Doesn't that suck in the winter?

About to buy new blades and don't want to miff this up. thx

Edit - i'm just going to run a 17 driver and 17 passenger. I found an old post by Madjik with a pic of the 18" passenger with a slight gap between the glass and the wiper at the very tip of the blade, not what i'm looking for. Giving the Anco's a go, since they've gotten pretty positive reviews for winter performance and most people get a full year out of them. Found a site (ezwipers.com) that has a pair of Contours for $15 after rebate with free shipping... helluva deal.

well I installed the new blades yesterday and got to try them out last night in some light rain. 22" blades definitely fit. blades worked great, nice and smooth.. hopefully they hold up longer than my last set of rain x latitudes

Rain-x windshield washer fluid works for me, ive got bosh icon but they streak.
I hate windshield wipers anyway, they make me punch pissy. I'm surprized I still have a windshield...unlike the last time I had a meltdown and spidered the boss's work truck windshield.

FWIW the blades of my wipers make full contact on the glass and at no point extend beyond the glass.

I've had no issues with them whatsoever. I love the 19" on the driver's side and 18" on the passenger side.

I think what you saw in that picture was the frame of the wiper blade and not the blade itself

This is true, the contour blades conform to the windshield and nowhere do they lose contact and don't extend past the glass. Not sure how they are worse for snow, because I proved that they clear more than the stock size...

(Madjik I'm building off your response, not talking at you)
