Thanks for the help guys. So is the front range essentially just east of the mountain range?

Got a question for y'all, are you guys having a warmer than usual winter? The reason I ask is because I put Fort Collins' weather on my wife's PC along with Asheville NC (our other top prospect). We've noticed that its often warmer in CO than NC and that is the opposite of what we thought would be the case. We've even checked the statistics.

It's been a pretty warm winter but this is somewhat common for this area. People who aren't from here assume it's freezing and snow covered year-round here. Back when I rode motorcycles there was only a handful of days all year that I couldn't ride because of snow on the streets. It's been pretty warm the last couple of days and it will get cold and snowy again in short order bet your bottom dollar on that. We tend to get dumped on in March. Still dig the weather here.

Actually, a lot of people we know have moved south (Texas, Arizona, Florida, etc.) in the last two years because the winters have been colder than usual. I'd say this winter is slightly warmer than normal but only just so and I think it seems even more that way due to how cold the previous winters were in comparison.

    Clear as mud? :D

They stream the boardcast over the web, often times they do the weather outside to prove a point. It's not as bad as you think once you watch the news for a few weeks.

Thanks, I'll relay that to the wife.
I'll have to start doing that then, is it live or can I just go through their archive?

Live. I was watching it daily when we were ready to move at a moments notice. I would guess you could catch the morning, lunch, or evening news; I was watching the morning.

What's the job market like in CO? That's what I'd like to know.

Depends on what type of job you are looking for. I have never had a hard time finding a job here in Operations/Supply Chain. There are a lot of small private companies if you are sick of the corporate world.

I will throw my two cents in on this topic. In Jan 2006 we moved from Houston to West of Vail in Avon. After 18 months, my company moved us to Telluride, six months later Fruita. 2008 the bottom fell out of the economy and I got laid off, found a job on the Front Range and moved to Evergreen. Lived there till 2013 and moved back to South of Houston near Galveston because of our newborn and to be close to family. Here we are 2.5 yrs later and are moving to Ft Collins in about 2.5 weeks.

We moved to CO originally for a reason and forgot why we left Houston in the first place. Going to miss the family, but they are only a 2.5 hr flight away.

Growing up I lived in Bailey, Evergreen, and Colorado Springs briefly and spent most my childhood living in the mountains near Westcliffe in the Sangre de Cristos. I would recommend all of those cities. Bailey and Evergreen are near the madness of Denver but a bit slower and quieter if that is something you're looking for. At least they were back then. Westcliffe probably has zero job outlook now-a-days.

My family then moved us to east Texas (awful) and then to Oklahoma, where I did high school and still live. My wife and I are starting to plan our move and we are considering Colorado, Arkansas (Fayetteville area), Tennessee (Knoxville or Chattanooga area), and North Carolina (Boone area). I had a conference in Boulder last month and we officially ruled out the Boulder area and probably Colorado as a whole. So now we decide on Ozarks, Smokies, or Appalachian mountains. I still have one more year of grad school, then my wife has two years. I love Oklahoma but man...i'm ready to live in some mountains.

Holy crap that is a lot of moving! Colorado isn't too far away, like a 12 hr drive or 1.5 hr flight. You just can't beat the weather and the views! I bet you won't miss that humidity either.

Probably the Boulderites... But nobody else in Colorado seems to like them either.

I would say the Morrison area sounds like a good fit. Not too far from the city, at the base of red rocks, sweet hiking and mountain biking around there. You have 470, i70 and 285 right there to head to the mountains or into Denver and you can find some decently priced places there.

It's about a 17 hr drive from CO to the Gulf, but 2.5hr flight isn't bad.
