BEST/WORST PLACES TO LIVE IN CO?

Yes, it is. By quite a bit in fact. Austin is only now where Boulder was about ten years ago but with worse infrastructure.

 

Physical Therapy is what I'm getting my degree in

 

Subaru's & Range Rover's those hippy & liberals r also trust fund babies, lol.

I like wheat ridge, home town feel close to downtown, red rocks, can bike to coors field or brewery even if u don't wear the bike costume's 30 minutes to evergreen for pond hockey and the resorts aren't to far away for surfing powder! West Denver doesn't suck!!

 

Haha all these people trashing Boulder have never lived there. Its easy to make the generalization and say its full of liberals and hippies when you visit once every 10 years.

Boulder is a great place, unless you live on the Hill where all the college students live. Its closer to everything than FoCo.

Fort Collins is really far away from everything, although close to I25. Its not close to any ski areas and is still a college town with CSU.

I'd look for a place in Boulder/Arvada/Lafayette/Louisville/Broomfield/Superior/Denver and you will be happy.

 

I've lived here all my life, it's a great place. Just ready for some cooler temps, more active lifestyle, and of course snow and the mountains. Went there almost every year for a while, I just think I'd really enjoy it.

Thanks for the input! I'll don't know much about those areas, but I'll do some research. Looks like some of the areas you listed are between denver and boulder. What are your thoughts on Parker, Estes, and Denver?

 

My wife and I are ready to move. My sister -n - law already lives there. I love it.

 

Is Durango where you sister and law lives, or why that area? I'm also kinda nervous about the salted roads affecting the taco frame?

 

OMG! Durango is perfect and the skiing is fantastic. Don't worry about the frame. Just enjoy life.

 

A lot of new college graduates have things a bit backwards. Sure, it's nice to live in a place that you really like but if you like it then so does everyone else and the competition for jobs can be fierce. When you are just starting out you probably should look for a job first and a nice place second. Good jobs usually don't just fall into your lap and the better ones require several years experience in addition to a degree. Several from here who have gotten degrees in the medical field have moved to Pueblo, which seems to be growing and in need of health care professionals.

 

I know what you are saying, I'm not in my twenties anymore, so I've been in the workplace for quite a while. It'll be a new market for sure, but I'm just covering bases and looking at areas that are good to live in. I'm not wanting to make a knee jerk decision based on a job. If I know good areas to live in, and a job is available, I'll be ready to pull the trigger immediately, and not have to research the area.

 

Any other thoughts?

 

I lived in Fort Collins for 6 years, fun, then got boring. Boulder now, love it, but it fits my job needs

 

I love this place and don't see moving in my future. Actually was born in Austin and grew up in C Springs. Been in durango since 93. In Dgo, they rarely put anything on the roads. As a matter of fact they only have two trucks equipped to spray it and they don't do it to every road. Only on the major strips just prior to a very bad storm, I wouldn't be concerned about it. I only saw it a handful of times last year.

 

Things I can do in a one mile bike ride:

See some dust.
See some tumbleweeds.
See some more dust.

Friday afternoon in Durango!

 

My girlfriend and I are planning on moving out there in the next 6 months. We're looking at the Grand Junction/Fruita area since she's a RN and there's lots of health care jobs out there. I'm in IT and realize the job market on the western slope is pretty bad. So... sugar momma will bring home the bacon and I'll mountain bike all day.

We don't want to be in a big city so Denver is out. Durango would be awesome but I'm thinking the job market for me would be even tighter than GJ.

 

We don't live here yet, but we're working on it. I think Durango is the perfect town.

 

Sadness...Had to come back to TX.
