hahaha. Well pick a spot, so Lindsay and I can move to the other at some point. Then we can visit each other to get the best of both worlds.

However...Austin was just thrown into the mix lately...bottom line, we don't know what the hell is happening, go enjoy it for us!

The daily show just did a few episodes from Austin, apparently it's a pretty hipster place full of people that aren't actually from there.

Dafuq? They want your guns in CO. Fuck a bunch of that.

    Yes it is.

If you like patchuli, dread locks, SUPER liberals and weed.....Boulder's for you.

Just move out of Austin. Problem solved.

Fort Collins rocks though. Still pretty earthy type people, but its a great town if you dont talk to anyone. Great location for everything.

Yea I know..that's why I'm cautious. Fort Collins still #1, but it's a ways off for us, just put some money into the current house remodeling as a band-aid to "we need to leave now". Should hold us over for a few years until we want the drastic change of a move.

I don't buy into that paranoia. CO has everything I like to do and TX doesn't. TX has nice people and a business-friendly environment, but it also has 8 months of summer, no mountains, no snow, etc. I'm ready to have seasons. I'm ready to be able to ski 100 days a year if I want to. I'm ready to have hiking out my door. I'm ready to have places to 4wd whenever I want. 90% of the land in TX is privately owned. BLM land is a good thing.

Austin is fun. Austin is weird only by TX standards.

That douchebag represents just one district in largely rural, far eastern Colorado Springs. Believe me, much of the rest of the Pikes Peak region is shaking their heads in utter dismay. We're all just grabbing our popcorn and a seat and waiting for the theater of the absurd to begin. But this guy hardly represents the entire region.

Head downtown & West side, and Colorado Springs is a reasonable place to be.

I was amazed by how many people prior to mid-terms told me (almost bragging) that they weren't voting. This is what happens when sane people don't vote for the right person for the job. We get the government we deserve. Nothing more. Nothing less.

"Politically, Boulder is one of the most liberal and Democratic cities in Colorado. As of April 2012, registered voters in Boulder County, which includes Boulder's more conservative suburbs, were 41% Democratic, 20% Republican, 1% in other parties, and 38% unaffiliated.[20] To residents and detractors alike, the city of Boulder is often referred to as the "People's Republic of Boulder.""

That's why I had a chuckle at his location on his profile

You don't have to live in Boulder to have an idea if you want to live there or not. I've been there enough... too much for my taste. Bunch of fuckin' weirdos man.

I hear what you are saying man... All I'm saying is people should at least experience being somewhere before they comment about what it's like there. There are a ton of jackasses that say people from Texas ride horses to school, and all other types of crazy ass assumptions, even though they haven't been there. As long as you've been there, you can chime in. I haven't been there in years, I'd be interested in hearing why. Thanks man.

So what's the snow situation in Colorado? As of now that's the main thing keeping my wife from considering it more. She's from Philly but you'd never guess because she's freezing at night when I have the AC on 70.

Depends on where you are (and what altitude, and how much precipitation you've seen, etc.).

The snow at lower altitudes melts off quick unless the temps stay way below freezing, and/or there's an unusually large amount of it.

You'll see snow lingering in the shady spots starting at around 8,500 feet. It's cold enough at 11,000 feet for it to hang around. I'm talking natural snow, versus man-made at ski areas/resorts.

    Alright, now I feel bad.

If you live in the mountains, it's exactly what you hear and read about. But the secret is the Front range (Denver/ area, Ft Collins, Colorado Springs, etc) Are very pleasant compared to mountains, We get short periods of cold/ snowfollowed by warm up periods where snow disappears and some days you think shorts will work.

Best story I heard to explain this is Denver owned under 15 plows until the 1980's because the sun always takes care of the snow in a day or two.

If she can't sleep with the A/C at 70... I don't know how much she will enjoy Colorado in the Fall/Winter. Being blatantly honest. There are many days that are below freezing, shitty weather and if being cold is a major factor, then I would look more closely

The Arkansas river valley has a pretty mild climate (for being in the mountains)... We've been here almost two years, and we love it. It certainly gets cold and snowy at times, but nothing like Summit County or some other areas. We also have very little to no traffic/congestion.
