Commuting from Longmont to Denver daily would be my personal hell. I-25 traffic fucking sucks. Doesn't even matter what time of day. I understand the logic but I would definitely try to be closer to work, wherever that is.

Noted. We will both have remote jobs when we move and will most likely do the commute into both Denver and FoCo a few times during shitbox hours to see how bad it is. This will gauge where we settle down. I have some friends in FoCo that rarely go to Denver so maybe there are more going on there than I imagined. The little bit of time we spent there combined with the personal tour Jeremy gave us makes it the ideal place, we just need to check all the boxes. A temp apartment in Loveland/Longmont should give us enough time to figure it out.

Foco traffic isnt fun either but living there is pretty dern awesome! College town with rolling hills so biking is a norm, foothills right there so btn biking, hiking, water @ horsetooth res. its been 15yrs since i lived there but seems the same.
I'd personally look around off i25 if its temp anyway, not the biggest fan of bongmont, again thats personal. I love Denver west, everything i could want within quick reach, great local community events and with arvada, wheat ridge, golden, lakewood, edgewater there are a lot of local things to chose from and denver just the other direction and go a lil further west to literally everything you could imagine to do in the mtns!

But i am old, have kids n drink beer so you may want to check your source before you quote me! Lol

FoCo is loaded down with so many good breweries within walking distance, I once enjoyed as many as I could on foot during a snow storm, and I managed to escape with all my fingers and toes before settling in at the armstrong(?) for a night. Fortcollins is the best place Ive been in colorado for drinking and beer that isnt denver. Id kill to get a job there and move away from columbine, but i really cant complain.

My only issue with FoCo is that it is a 3 hour drive to any ski resorts. Nothing close at all. If not for that I'd live there in a heartbeat, great town for sure

We head out Jan 5. How do you have your sanity without a place locked down already?

I never made that claim. I've never moved across the country before so I'm just making this up as I go. I poo'd the bed picking the location buying my house here and dont want make the same mistakes.

Current plan is to find a place in wheat ridge / edge water area through airBnB for the first two weeks of Jan while I do some apartment hunting and lock down a place. I'm still waiting for my work to give me an official transfer date  and likely won't have an answer till January. So my crap will probably sit in storage for a month or two and I'll have to travel back to philly for a bit.

Trying to stay west of Denver, but within 20-30 minutes of the city and the front range, some bars in walking distance, and a plethora of single women in their 30s. :fingerscrossed:

We signed the lease on our apartment in Loveland last month. We will hunt for a house from there hoping to stay somewhere in Loveland/Fort Collins. Denver is a bit much to handle.

Excellent choice. You'll like it here. Close enough to whatever you need but not so close you can't wait to get the hell out.

This thread is extremely helpful. Wife and I are considering selling everything (house and 2wd Tacoma and buy 4wd and rent initially!) and heading west from Florida this summer/Fl. We prefer smaller safe town near either Denver or FoCo. We are going to head out to explore this winter. So many towns listed throughout this thread we will make our list, do some research and see what we like. We have been to Colorado three different times and love it.

It's currently 82 in Florida, it sucks and doesn't feel festive. The two seasons get old. Thanks all!

I'm staying in Lakewood from 1/1-1/15. I don't have a plan after that.

If you can afford it Sloan's Lake area (West Denver) fits the bill here and only getting better with St Anthony's redevelopment finally on track.

As someone who grew up in Nebraska and now Colorado since the mid 90's... the lack of 'festiveness' lasts only a few days. Snow removal lasts all. Winter. Long.

    The grass isn't always greener...

You are correct, the grass isn't always greener and we could get out there and hate it! On the snow topic, I did spend the first 17 years of my life in New Hampshire and it's funny, I actually miss the snow.

Thanks for the suggestion. This is actually an area I liked when I initially started looking for places in CL. I'll definitely put this on my list.
