We in Canada send all of our oil to the US then buy it back as gas/diesel. Which IMO is ridicules, we need to build more refineries in Canada and keep our oil here. The heavy polluting Tar Sands development needs also to be shut down, or at the very least made to pay for the unimaginable environmental disaster that they have created. Its true there is a lot of oil left in the world. The problem is its getting very expensive to get it.

Wow, bouncing around this thread I noticed it moved from better gas to geo-politics.

    Anyway

I just got back from spending a weekend in Knoxville ( almost rolled my new 09 off a hill, but thats a different post ) Figuring what the hell I picked up a bottle of STP Octane Booster, throwing in a bottle of the gas treatmant every fill up and switched from mid-grade to premium. When I drove the speed limit ( or close to it) I made just at 100 miles for a quarter tank.
It was Sunday night so I was able to get back in a hurry, averaging about 80 MPH. Last time I filled up a reset my odomoter and came up with just over 300 miles and the gas just above the lbottom line, so about 15 miles per gallon. Im not sure how much if at all my gas mileage improved, But I did notice
    1) Sound of the engine/exhaust was much smoother and not as loud. Simplest way to describe it was it sounded 'healthier'.
    2) It drove slightly better, throttle was more responsive. The only strange difference I noticed was that it seemed like sometimes the Transmission would shift down for no reason, and it no longer did that.

Good question, I just read over this oldie, what a mess.

I guess the group buy never happened and we never got the huge data base of real world scientific evidence?
