I just came out of a 2011 double cab TRD Sport with manual trans. It had the 4.0 litre engine. I commute 45 kms one way to work 5 days per week with about 50% highway and 50% city driving. On the 2011 I would achieve around 400 km's on a tank of gas and would fill up every 4 days or so.

On my new 2019 double cab TRD Sport with manual trans and the 3.5 litre engine, I am so far getting over 500 kms per tank on the same drive. Filling up once every 5 days. That has been a pleasant surprise for my wallet. I'm hoping it stays this way.

They like the mix of city and highway. Do you use highway 1 to get into calgary or do you sneak in and out using side roads?

Hwy 22 by Hwy 8 traffic circle to Trans Canada to Stoney Trail to John Laurie to McNight to 12th Street NE. Morning is nice and light traffic, but afternoon is stop and go on McNight from 12th Street over Deerfoot to 4th Street NW, then it is typically open to Sarcee to Crowchild to Stoney then to Trans Canada to Hwy 22 then south.

You have some heavy volumes but typically no stop to Country Hills. Not bad. How many kms to a tank for you?

I dont have a 3rd gen right now, but my 16 used to get 16-17 liters/100km. It was a small lift with bigger tires, but I had a 4km commute last year. These trucks do NOT like short drives haha

We have one guy that works in the south, about 40km ride and he gets 500 if he takes it easy on a 17'.
