BRZ/FRS/86: Requires higher octane fuel in order to satisfy the higher compression ratio. You don't want to put in weaker fuel because it can cause knocking or premature detonation. NOT COOL

Tacoma: Lower grade fuel is okay because our compression ratio isn't as high and we don't have that risk of detonation.

I don't think its a corporate scam. I think its science and engineering.

    Wait what? No.

None of this is accurate information, and I'm not sure how you reached the conclusions above.

Multiple grades of gasoline are sold in dozens of other countries around the world, many of which require higher octane than what's sold in the US. Additionally, to be sold in the United States, Europe, and really in any developed country, gasoline has to meet numerous strict laboratory specifications first. Falsifying the COA/COQ on a shipment of gasoline is a death sentence for the parties involved. Sure, go to a third world country or one where the central government lacks control and what passes for gasoline might be questionable, but that's the exception. Not the rule.
