It’s a truck and it looks cool might not be the best in MPG but so what!

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
So if 6th gear and big tires results in too low an engine rpm for best economy and performance, What's wrong with 5th?

And has anyone actually "restored" lost fuel economy by swapping pumpkins?

315/75/16, 6in modded RC lift,Anderson Engineering manifold spacer,K&N air intake, URD YPipe, stock exhaust ,16" method nv305 wheels, AFE throttle body spacer, vf Tune program, JTL 3.0 Oil catch can x2, rear cat delete
Great read . But I beg to differ I'm at 5,250 lbs with full tank and me with my work gear. I have tuned my ecu which requires premium fuel, along with intake and performance exhaust. I'm rolling 33in km3's. I have afe throttle body spacer and ripp performance coils . I dd my truck and keep close to 21 mpg. A full tank I get average of 360ish miles a tank. I have a 6" lift ,w a warn winch bumper paired with 12k winch . My wheels are method race wheels . See I knew I was adding weight to the truck so I made sure I had performance modifications done before adding the heavy stuff. My last major mod is gonna be 5.29 gears and I should be complete. With upgraded suspension my truck handles very well . Rc vertex resis are awesomeness. When loaded down with camping gear yes it drives like a boat lol Everytime I knew I was overloading my truck . What country boy doesn't load his truck down lol. I get the article though , they're right. Just make sure you put into consideration of the added mods that you make adjustments prior to adding the extra weight and you will be fine . Tacoma for life

For starters put the fucking thing on a diet!! Any of you guys honestly know what your ride tips the scales at with ALL your gear & passengers? It will shock the shit outta you my DCLB with what little I have bolted on & two 190lb passengers comes in at 5400lbs (stock & completly empty is 4500) max GVWR is 5600lbs & that's before beer & ammo
Go spend $12 at your local truck stop get on your CB or cell phone contact scale operator give em your information walk inside get your paper of shame
