Im looking to help increase smoothness of my ride..First off let me start by saying that this truck has had 3 owners including me and the 2nd owner used it as a hunting truck and it was basically not cared about other than gas and oil changes ( and btw it was rolled 6 times in a field cause someone did donuts in a field with a hill ), I've probably dumped $3k or more into it get it to where it is now and I'm happy with myself, but theres still more work to be done I can tell..

Anyway off the important stuff..My average speed is 55-60mph..I have a 99 Tacoma PreRunner 2.7L 3RZ Single Cab with 221k miles and about 85% treaded 31in BFG AT KOs on factory 15x7 Rims.

    I have :
    - Slight bouncing when riding on a flat/new paved road (Might be tire balance)
    - I can sometimes feel the texture of the road, Like a rocky paved road
    - I feel every little bump and detail in the road

Any ideas on how to fix this??...Ive drove other tacomas and they feel smooth unlike mine.

Also..This may not help with anything but Ive had my inner tie roads replaced about 9 months ago but the steering still moves by it self...Like Im going down the highway at about 75mph and it feels like the truck is going left and right the whole time like it wobbling..Im thinking its my rack & pinion is going bad or is already bad...Any ideas on how to fix this will also help me too..

check all your front end parts for looseness, I bet you have bad tie rods and that's why the wheel and steering feels loose

also he probably replaced the rear springs and shocks for heavy duty ones, going back to stock will soften your ride a lot. also he may have replaced the front struts with heavy duty ones so return those to stock and your ride should smooth out considerably.

the bouncing you feel is most likely a bent or out of round rim so get all 4 tires balanced and they will see whats going on with the tires and rims there. if they check out you may have a bent axle or driveshaft issue

Tie Rods are new...He didnt change anything on the truck, Only thing he replaced on the truck was the tires and the radio..they still have the stock struts and rear shocks also..Ive had this truck for about 2 years now, So ive basically rebuilt the major parts, Im just trying to touch up some stuff on it so its feels like new again..

well you said you wanted a smoother ride, if its stock then that's as smooth a ride as you are going to get.

prerunners have the 4wd ride quality and stiff suspension

the regular trucks have a much softer ride quality but they are car height suspension so they don't fit your truck unless you also lower it.

Nice looking truck, you must have done some body work if it has been rolled. Looks good.
The ride you describe is typical for these trucks, they weren't built with comfort in mind. Different types of tires (tread designs, load ratings, etc..) will smooth out the road feel somewhat.

The wandering sounds like you need an alignment. A good shop will tell you if anything is out of whack.
