Should I route the Diff Breather to Tail Light or Gas Cap Area? Is one better than the other? Pros and cons?

If you do the gas cap area make sure you check before you drill. Someone ended up drilling into the filler neck.

I went gas cap and I just make sure it's still good every time i get gas

I went behind the tail light and required no drilling.

Try the small cubby that no one uses.

I routed mine into my cubby as well, enlarged one of the existing drain holes.

Don't forget your front diff trans and transfer case breathers either.

I almost did the cubby but decided on the gas cap.

Also the front diff trans and t case are fairly high up

I went ahead and extended those all further up into the engine bay anyway, the rear can be a little lower as you should create a bow wake in water but I wanted the front stuff higher and it was easy and quick.

Are there kits out there for this or is it homemade stuff?

It's one barbed nipple, and one barbed breather cap from the dealer, a few feat of 3/8 gas hose from the auto parts store, and a handful of zipties.

I imagine there's "kits" but they're not cost effective.

ARB has a really fancy breather kit I know of but I laughed when I saw the price, it's like $100 for something that can be done for Free-Fiddy.

You don’t need one. I’ve done enough water crossings that it’s a moot mod

Water crossing is one thing, being stuck sitting in water for a few minutes is entirely another.

It's cheap insurance for if you ever do something dumb you don't have to pay as badly for it.

It’s not, but you can keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.

If someone is that paranoid about getting stuck in a river so long that the breather fails then they probably shouldn’t be out there to begin with.

    Minutes you say? Try days.
