I just think it is sad the poor quality of products that Ford has marketed over the years. I guess that doesn't necessarily mean that their line of lube is inferior, but in my mind the company has a long way to go to overcome the penny-pincher damage over the last few decades. I do have to admire Ford for not taking Oblahblah bail out funds.

I don't know if the stock LSD's are made by Eaton or if not, but they are of the same clutch type. FWIW, Eaton recommends the use of dino gear oils only and GM/Ford friction modifier in their clutch type LSD's. They have been known to dispute warranty claims if synthetic oil was used. Their clutch LSD's were designed for American cars using dino gear oils.

It seems like most folks that have used a synthetic (even with LSD additive) eventually have problems binding/noise from the clutch packs. I'm all for synthetics, but it's just not what they're designed to work with. I read a post where another member, BlueT, has tried many synthetics and had problems with them all. He's going to try the Mobil 1 Delvac stuff and see how that goes.

I've read some short term success stories with Redline and Amsoil. I'm still not happy with the dino/ additive combo, so I'm probably gonna stop by Oreilly and pick up a tube of the Lubegard that Asgard recommended. This has turned out to be quite the cluster F.

I used Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 on my front and rear diff.

I also put it in 4 X-Runners that have the LSD. I was advised by URD that it did not need any LSD additive. If you still don't know, Amsoil sells LSD additive for peace of mind.

No one has had any problems;)

Soooo where is do you guys get Dino oil? Autozone doesn't have it, and is that rule of thumb the best? Seems like everyone is going back and forth, I used mobil 1 synthetic and I cam getting chattering.... grinding. Bought new F'n bearings... and don't think thats the problem

Dino oil is a nick name for standard non-synthetic oil. Autozone will carry it.

And yet you're the one with the shudders, lol.

I used Royal Purple 75w-90 with NAPA additive on my 07. But I was getting the shudders when I first take off. Would go away though right away.

Anyways, replaced it with Valvoline 80w-90 and Motorcraft additive and it's been perfect since.

You may want to redrain and replace the oil again. Could be remaining synthetic mixing and screwing your shit up.
    This is what I used.

But I bought the 5-qt jug because it was cheaper than buying 3 single qt.

Also, check with a few of your local Toyota dealers. One of my local dealer sells Kendall LSD oil 80w-90 in the parts department. Only $5 a quart too.

75-90 OR 80-90 non synthetic with a 4oz bottle of limited slip additive and you should be good to go.

Okay from all the other threads and posts I've been reading, it seems like 80W-90, non-synthetic gear oil is being used the most with the LSD additive and it seems to be working for most people.:)

Another quick question? I currently have 6 quarts of 75W-90 Redline synthetic gear oil sitting in my garage. Can I use that in the front differential and transfer case and just get 3 new quarts of regular 80W-90 for the rear with some LSD additive? Or do I need to get 80W-90 gear oil for all 3 applications?

75w-90 for front diff and transfer is fine.

You can use the synthetic in the front diff and t-case without problems. If you have a manual transmission, you can use it there too.

If I remember right the rear diff is just shy of 3qts? and the front is how many qts....
