Just to clue everyone in. We live in Hawaii on the island of Maui.
Just wanted to share what happened to a friend of mine. He ordered a set of wheels & tires from 4wheel parts wholesalersfor his 2006 Toyota Tacoma. What he ordered were Mickey Thompson Classic wheels 17x9 with 4.5" backspace and -12mm offset (part #MT379412) with Nitto terra grappler tires 285/70/17. Well the wheels he got were M/T Classics with 5.00" backspace (part #379411) & they dont fit. They rub the calipers big time. He contacted 4wheel parts and they said they would send him some 1/4"spacers to make it fit. We got some spacers locally and it still wont work. He called 4wheel parts again and spent over three hours on the phone trying to get this straightened out. He was transfered from a sales rep to a customer rep to a manager and then back to a sales rep who told him he would send out some larger spacers. He told them that I have the M/T rims on my 2007 Toyota truck and they fit fine without any spacers and thats why he ordered the same for his truck. We even tried one of my wheels on his truck and it fit with no problems. No need for spacers or anything. They just bolt on. He was even told that the M/T wheels with the 4.5 backspace wont fit on a Toyota because they are for a Chevy truck. I have those rims on my 07 Tacoma and have been running them for just about a year now. And I purchased them from 4Wheel parts. Why did they sell me Chevy rims when I told them I have a Toyota???? Bottom line is they sent the wrong wheels. Not what he ordered. So their proposed solution to this problem is for him to have the tires dismounted and send the wheels to Oahu and they will ship him the correct wheels. But he has to pay for the dismounting, shipping to Oahu and the remounting and balancing. They will cover $60.00 of the mounting cost and return shipping from Oahu. We got prices for what this will cost him. Dismounting tires-$25.00 per wheel = $100.00. Shipping to Oahu $185.00. Mounting and balancing- $50.00 per wheel = $200.00. Total cost- $100.00 +$185.00+$200.00=$485.00 it will cost him because of their mistake. We dont think he should have to pay for anything because he did not receive what he ordered. It was their screwup so they should be responsible for everything. Their customer service is pathetic. I myself have ordered wheels and rims twice from them before but after seeing this fiasco dont think I will ever order from them again. I know my friend will never deal with them again. So if you are thinking of buying from 4 wheel parts wholesalers be wary. If your order gets screwed up it may cost you big time. Seems like their policy is to have the customer pay for their mistakes. All my friend wants is the right stuff that he ordered and not have to pay anything extra for someone elses mistake. Everyone knows word of mouth goes a long way especially on an island like this but I will recommend to everyone to not buy anything from these guys unless they can come to a reasonable solution to this situation.

Thanks for the heads up. I know many people who have advised not to go to them for advice on anything. Many say to figure out what you need then order from them at the most

I lived in Maui for a year or so. Availability for stuff like this sucked. I hated the shipping costs for everything purchased on the internet.

If you know exactally what you want and have faith you'll get it you are probably ok...but otherwise I'd look around a bit more- Check out Wheelers or TRDparts4u.com for OME prices (as the OME stuff is really an OME 3" lift...not a Toytec OME 3" lift...)

I think the only good thing I've heard about 4WP is cheap prices- but when you pay cheap prices and get the wrong parts or get the crappy service they provide....It's not worth it to me...

I agree. I called to order an AFE Pro Dry and told the guy straight away that I had an '08 with a V6. He put an order in for the 4 cylinder filter. I saw the charge in my cc and it was for the wrong price, so I called and spent another half hour on the phone with a manager explaining what happened so I could get the correct one shipped the first time. Won't go through them again - they are dumb a??es.

You could take a chance but be sure they get your order right. Or else it will be a nightmare. I have ordered 2 sets of wheels and tires from them and both orders arrived ok but what happens when I get the wrong stuff. Dont want to have to go through what my friend is experiencing.

    Just enough, and never enough
I have had my own bad experiences with 4WP in San Jose, CA. The guys who work there are so difficult to work with sometimes. They ended up having to replace my steering linkage on my old truck after i watched them bang around my truck with a sledge hammer:eek:. I would advise not going here to perform any major work, tow straps maybe. Mine is not the only horror story I have heard of either. good luck with the wheels bro.

I got my 3" OME lift from 4WP and it was a nightmare!! I have a co-worker that knows a guy that works there and said he would hook me up. He beat TRDparts4U by maybe $50 so I ordered it. First thing he quoted me one price with out making sure he had everything. He quoted one leaf bushing not 4. No big deal they don't cost that much but that's how it started. Then I get the lift and go to install it one Saturday morning at a friends house. Now my buddy lives about an hour from me, away from the Dallas area towards the north. We got to the NEW U-bolts for the leaf springs and they are not long enough! I called them and told them. They asked if I was using blocks?? It was bone stock I replied. All they could say was it should fit. They had some more that I could go get but that would have been about a 3 hour round trip. No local place open around my buddies house to see if I could find them my self but I drove around a while looking. So we pulled one leaf out to make it work. Which means I got to go back and put it back, more work!! Then the shocks!! On mine they are open eye on the bottom and threaded on top, I didn't get those. So I used the oem ones untill they could get the right ones. They called and said it was in a few days later so I go up there. What they hand me is procomp shocks and fab-tech U-bolts, I just shook my head. I took the ubolts because they would work I just had to cut them down a bit. Then I had to wait again for the OME shocks. Few days later I'm driving back for the shocks. I payed extra for the u-bolts because they said it was not there fault and I couldn't see how it was mine. I didn't want to argue. They also sold me a bushing and and a bracket/hanger of some sort that I didn't need. So at the end that $50 that I was saving flew out of my pocket. With the lost time, several hours of driving, paying extra for u-bolts and extra work on installing I will never send anyone there. I will not use them again, not even if I know what I need.

This is what Silverback told me to do about the 5.00 backspacing

"grind off about 1/32" of an inch off the front caliper. There are some letters stamped into the caliper on the side and I took it down so that you can just barely read the letters and that was enough."

So might want to PM him for more info. on that

1/32" is nowhere close enough. I had the rim up against the caliper and there still was about a 3/8" gap between the mounting flange of the rim and the brake rotor. looked at the M/T website and checked their wheel fitment guide. It shows 2 part numbers for 17x9 classic rims for a 05-08 tacoma. 379413, 479412. 4wheel parts shipped 379411 which shows it is for a 01-04 tacoma. On the invoice it states a 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 so they just sent the wrong wheels. My friend has filed a complaint with both the Better Business bureau and with his credit card company so having them take care of it. See where it goes from here. 4wheel parts just needs to take care of their mistake.

had the same problem with mrwheeldeals........STEVE HAMILTON who is a middleman sent me the wrong wheels with his "guaranteed fitment" guarantee. When I tried to work out a return deal, he blamed me for ordering the wrong wheels and would only send the right set for discount. sold wheels locally and will never buy from him again. When we live in the middle of the Pacific, we pay for the mistake, whether its ours or theirs and that sucks.........gotta believe in Karma........what goes around, comes around

Had my own nightmare at the Oakland California 4 wheel myself.spent $3000 on suspention lift. Icon coils were scratch, adjuster ring was strip when they adjusted it to level truck. Uca was hitting coils that i know they did noT know about.Ask the manager Pete if they have Incountered this kind of problem? He just told me no cause people don't care cause it is an off road thing and it will eventually get scratch. I can go on and on. Buttom line. Have someone else do the job.

I bought 2 sets of tires and wheels and never had a problem. Both fit without any issues. Think it's a hit or miss deal with those guys. If your stuff comes good then you alright. But if you have a problem or get the wrong stuff then it's a nightmare to get it right. If you do order from them I suggest you do your own research and get the part numbers and dont let the guy on the phone tell you what you need. That's what happened to my friend and all he got was the wrong parts and major BS! We told them we have the part numbers and he told us that never need em cause he knows what we needed. WRONG!!!!
How's the ulua fishing there on the big island? Kind of crappy here. Too many fishermen and not enough spots to go. They keep locking up more and more shoreline over here.
