I ordered the CBI bed rack through ROOFTOP OVERLAND and DO NOT PAY $200 TO GET IT POWDER COATED.

-three months after having the rack I have already noticed rust in southern California (which if somethings powder coated, its supposed to protect from rust for up to 15 years)
    - I had to go pay another $350 out of pocket to get the rack powder coated and the place informed me that the rack was just spray painted and not powder coated.

**I paid a 200 deposit when ordering the rack to get it powder coated in which CBI did not actually powder coat it they just spray painted it, and ROOFTOP OVERLAND argued with a fence post denying and denying that it was not powder coated and was not willing to work with me and stand behind their product they were selling**

    LESSONS LEARNED
    • CBI says they powder coat and end up just spray painting so they can make extra $
    • ROOFTOP OVERLAND is a B**** to work with and do not stand behind the products they sell on their website
Please don't make the same mistake I have made because it has cost me a total of $550 out of pocket. -$200 original "powder coat" & -$350 my own purchase of a correct powder coat.

here to inform . just be careful and know what you are buying!!

@CBI Offroad Fab powdercoat protection for 15 years??? That I highly doubt and have never heard of.

I don't k ow where the 15 year figure comes from, but I think it's reasonable to say a powder coated product shouldn't rust early on in SoCal.

After talking to multiple professional powder coat companies and doing re-search, a professional powder coating job should protect a metal for close to 15 years.. either way ya id expect CBIs to last more than 3 months in socal

There's probably 50,000 vendors online w/ the name overland. 49,999 of them drop ship from the source anyway.

Powder coating CAN protect for years, until the coating gets damaged. Then large sections can flake off as rust penetrates under the coating.

This is why I ended up with a Yakima bedrack since they're made out of aluminum and not worries of rusting ever and oh the warranty.

Slider rust.jpg This is the amount of rust I have on my sliders, with a good powder coat. Bought in June 2018 from a company (we shall not speak their name), here on the west coast.
