    :)

I am a newbie as well so trying to learn. I want to improve the poor fuel mileage on my 04 V6 4WD SR5.

I read where a failed thermostat can cause a big drop in fuel mileage. The eng temp never gets up to where the computer leans out the mixture. Can make as much as a 2-3mpg difference. The advice was to change it every 60k miles. A small cost considering the benefits. Mine is going to get changed soon. I have 60k on it now, and its likely the original.

    :)

What I am saying is that a small thing like this may contribute to your poor fuel mileage.

You are looking for that one big reason, and it may be many small ones that add up to a really big drop in fuel mileage.

Well that would be the MAF Sensor. My truck will kill, idle rough, etc. because of this.
