    Hey all,

I have a 2011 2.7 L regular cab 4x4. I have been wanting to put on the new BF Goodrich KO2's. The closest size in comparison to my current tires (265 65 R17) is 265 70 R17. That means going from a 30.6" tall tire to a 31.6". However the width of the tire will stay the same (10.43").

I am wondering how this will effect the performance of the truck. After all it is just the 2.7L. However I have upgraded the truck the the LCE long tube headers and K&N cold air intake so that should help.

I guess what i'm trying to say is, will going to a tire that big negatively effect the performance of my truck? What size tires are you guys running?

I would love to hear what you guys think,
    thanks,
    Kwik

I have a dclb with the 4.0. I just put on brand new 265/70/17 c-rated bfg ko2's. The difference is fairly dramatic even though I have the 4.0 due to the weight. With the 2.7l you might need a gear ratio change.

    Shhh v6 guy

Ran 265/75R16 for a year and a bit in the bfg KO which is the comparable size to the 265/70r17 was a non issue as far as fuel milage was concerned. Also consider this I get 22mpg on with 315/75r16 I think you'll be ok

Good to know, thanks guys. I'm also considering switching to a lighter wheel. One that I like is the Pro Comp 7069 series wheel that is 24lbs vs my XD Series Crank wheels which are 34.5 lbs.

hey crashngiggles do you have a lift in your truck? I've been thinking of going to a 265/70/17 on my 08 and was wondering if I need to lift it. Also does the handling and gas mileage change much, or did it stay pretty consistent? Any info would be appreciated!

sweet thanks for the info, I'm looking at getting the bilstein 5100s they seem to be pretty popular here. Sorry to repeat but did you notice a difference in gas mileage or handling? I do lots of driving and if theres big changes in those respects might not be feasible idea for me.

Handling is actually a little better than the original Dunlop's. Mileage is effected a little. Maybe 10% or 26-30 miles less a tank. 7-10 is because of the size of the tire and the difference in the diameter. Well worth the difference though.

Pro comp lift is subtle but affective, love the look- leveled out.

have the 265/70/r17 bfg ko2 c rated tire.saw a little drop in mpg.but that tire is tough.use it in my ranch ,run over mesquite trees, thornbushs,no punctures and no signs of wear. they run great on the freeway at 75 miles an hour.no problems. i love them.

I switched up from the stock steel wheels/ 245's to fj TRD wheels and 265/70/16 Firestone destination AT and really like them. So far don't really notice a loss of power.
