I would do silver so you don't have to do the jams on the cab.

Should just throw on the bad from the parts truck as well if you do that. That would probably be the easiest way to do it and probably cheapest too since you wouldn't have to pay for paint/someone to paint it depending on how you were going to do it.

The problem with swapping beds is my tire carrier is welded in so that it makes it impossible to pull that off withough cutting the mounts I made.. plus I kinda like the damage on the bed corner. It gives it character lol so I'm. Going to do a cheap paint job and I've been toying with the idea of a satin or semigloss black and just rattlecan it up.. beats the shit out of my fingers but I'm pretty decent at spraypainting that I think I could pull this off.

I don't think I could find/do a good job with a red or blue rattlecan.. but as far as it chipping sure it will eventually chip... but the nice thing is I can touch it up anytime with more spraypaint :p

I would rather keep ther silver but its kind of a hassle to try to get that tire carrier off.. ill figure it out I'm still 50/50 on painting or complete swap

I think swapping over both the bed and the cab would be easiest/cheapest in the long run even though you have to cut off the tire carrier. Also you wouldn't have to worry about sanding/prepping the entire truck.

Hey just got caught up on your reconstruction. I wanted to suggest the whole copart thing if you have a broker it is really easy to buy a truck off there. I recently bought a 05 double cab TRD Sport with all the bells and whistles for $6,500. Until I bought the 05 I had always want to convert a first generation double cab to a 5 speed manual! Looks like you got a good truck though.

I sold my old 2000 tacome because I needed the 4 doors since my wife just had our first son. Buying my new truck off copart has really been a huge success.

    My old Truck

My new truck, it actually looks a little better than this now but this is my most recent picture. You can look at my gallery to see what it looked like when I got it from copart.

I like to keep excel sheets of my total cost of my projects. I am just about through with restoring my 2005 with just some paint work and a driver wheel airbag to replace. I sold my old truck for $8,100 and I will be into this truck about $10,500. So not a straight across trade but it keeps me out of a car payment and now I have a back seat, not to mention my old truck had 175K miles this one only has 83K.

My point is though that you are on the right track. Once you complete this project you will probably never go back to buying a car the normal way. At least that's what has happen to me.

If I may suggest though instead of rattle caning your truck why not invest in a low end paint gun. Harbor freight sales them for $40~$60 and they are always on sale, also they don't require a 80 gal compressor since they are high pressure low volume. The benefit is you can buy some decent paint and you learn something new. It is bound to look better than rattle caning and it will last longer. Basically you have the perfect canvas to practice on and once you learn to paint you can really have fun with your projects.

Good luck with this project though I would not mind being in your shoes.
