    A few bolts are different.
I think the E rated Nitto Tg's I had on the 17" wheels will have gotten better mileage then the D rated 16" rim size that I have now, both sizes are 285's. It just seems that the E load rated tire was maybe a harder compound. Also I was told to run 45psi in the 17" E nittos versus the 35psi i'm running in my 16" D rated now.

I dont know anything about tires, just 8 cents worth.

BFG is a strong tire, I'll give it that. They are over rated for their performance. You have had 2 set of tires Im guessing? The Nittos, and BFG's? I have had 6 sets of Nittos and none have had issues. Before that I ran BFG exclusivly, and they are a middle of the road tire. NOT worth the premium they want for them given the options out there. I have friends that have had 4 to 5 sets, no issues. At around 30KK miles, all my BFG's I ran began to separate the rubber from the belts inside. They would vibrate horribly due to this, and not be able to be ballanced. Now, I pushed them harder than most. BUT, I did the same with the nittos, nad had better results. Cliff, You seeing (claiming) that you saw all these nittos with issues when you worked at Discount only reafirms my belife in the tires being a defective batch. You worked there over the summer, correct? And being that they seem to be having the same issue also reafirms this.

The E rated tires have stronger plies.

The most important thing for tires is propper inflation, and alignment. All those being equal, there is no reason any AT tire shouldnt go 40K miles.

I have only ever had BFG's on all of either of my vehicles and I couldn't be happier. I'll never own any other type of tire. The A/T have gotten me through mud that a buddy of mine couldn't get through with M/T's. But to be fair I have never owned TG and really can't offer you the comparison that you were asking for.

I think that what we have determined here, is that they are both good tires, just a matter of personal preference. :)

I went from Michelin LTX M/S to BFG AT and I've noticed a few things.

1:It feels more like a truck now. Hitting ruts in the road is far more noticeable and it does right rougher, but when it comes to tackling obstacles it feels far smoother in the cab.
2:Michelin's are better in wet weather, BFGs are better in snow.
3:I have far more hop in the back when driving. When taking a corner on the highway and hitting a rut I feel the back end skip out more than I ever did with the LTX's.

Just an FYI on the BFGs. However I do love them, they look great, preformed admirably in the snow, and I can't stand the fucking lightning bolts on the nittos. That and the price of them here in Canada is the only reason I will never run them. (Sorry for those that do, but it really bugs me)

Edit - I should mention that a brand new set of 4 BFG A/T at 265x75x16 load 3 is $1075 installed mounted whole nine yards. Nittos end up being more expensive up here in Canukistan.

I bought my BFG A/T last week. So far they are great. Had a little snow and a little rain and haven't slipped yet. I looked into buy the Nittos. Only place I could find that sold them around here was 4 Wheel Parts. They would have ran me about 650-700 out the door. I got my BFG A/T for $915 out door at Costco. Cost is 25% more, but if the tread last 25% longer, I don't have a problem with it. A coworker of mine had had his BFG A/T on his F-150 for 5 years and they still have at least 1 more winter in them. If I get 4 years (~60k) I'll definitely be buying another set. Plus I think they just look much better than the Nittos.

I've deadened my cab, so I can't hear a change in road noise from my old BFG Rugged trial.

I was at a cross roads for these 2 tires a couple of months ago also. I decided to go with the BFG's and am very happy. I have buddies who have the terra grapplers and the BFG's and they both exellent tires. As far as road noise, I can hardly hear the tires in the cab, and I went from the bridgestone duelers to the BFG's. They also balanced very easily the first time around with AR Chambers, (285/75/16 I have heard these were hard to balance) I could just be lucky on that though.

I think it really comes down to if you like the lighting bolt side walls, I don't, and I think BFG's look a tad more aggressive if that counts for anything.

I have TGs with no complaints or issues. They were on the truck when I got it at 48k so who knows how many miles before I got it. They have worn evenly even after the lift without changing UCAs. They are 285/60/18s. Now, I'm open to giving the BFGs a shot whenever the TGs actually finish wearing out, which seems like it'll be another little while, but tire size offerings may become my issue. Not wanting to go to 295/60/18 or 275/65/18 like in the GY Wranglers. I'd like to stay with same tire size. Any bigger & it'll rub, speedo off etc etc etc. Don't wanna go any smaller either, width or OD. If BFG has 285/60/18s then they may be what I look at. Price then would be what matters. What they look like standing still means little to me vs. how they work when the truck's actually moving so the lightning bolts or white letters or this tread is more aggressive "looking" or any other appearance preference thing or peer pressure is not what will persuade me to change. Not really snow or ice in these parts hardly ever so that's a wash. It'll be more TGs or BFGs next time tho....something with a damn G in it, lol.

I don't like feeling embaressed walking up to my truck.

The gay ass shit they put on their tires is like this.

I agree with the functionality over looks. I had no complaints with the BFG on my other trucks, it got me to where I needed to go in some pretty bad shit. I was hoping the Terra Grappler would have good tread life and be able to go through all the shit that the BFG's went through, while saving me about half.
